Year 2023~
Evangeline's POV

"Evy, you listen to me, whatever happens to me, it isn't going to be good, I'll either end up in a hospital bed or in a grave. Now, you take what you can from the house and run with Juno, run far and don't stop, do you understand me?"

"Yes dad, I understand, but what about money?"

"Under my mattress and in my top dresser drawer I have about two thousand dollars. Take it and spend it responsibly. Take care of Juno, I love you both."

"We love you too dad, and I won't let you down."

As I held back my tears, I ran to Juno's room to get her when the front door closed and opened again. I walked out slowly to see what was going on. That's when I saw my father flat on his back with a gun being pointed at his head and in two seconds flat: BANG! He was shot and dead.

When Juno started to cry, I quietly ran us to the closet and let her cry into my chest. When they finally left, I could get back to packing and leaving, now in even more of a hurry then before because I was assuming they'd be after us next.

The cash that my dad told me to grab was exactly where he said. I went to the kitchen to get all of Juno's snacks for her and enough bigger snacks to last me for about a week.

I ran back into Juno's room and started to pack up all of her stuff into a suitcase along with quite a bit of my clothing and other necessary things.

With my sister in my left arm and the suitcase in my right hand the bags of food were attached to the handle. I did as my father said and left, the bags of food were up in the passenger seat, the suitcase in the trunk and the most important thing of all, my beautiful baby sister in the back seat, safe and sound. So with the turn of a key and the rumble of an engine, we were gone from that town called Hershey and on the road.
