"Mum! Why? Can Dad not watch her?" I ask my mother desperately.
"Lower your voice Ivy, but no Mesi is with his new family, I suggest you get over the thought of your father before you give Sung-Mai more false hope." Mum says with venom, she hates Dad.
I sigh and roll my eyes, walking out of the kitchen leaving her to work on her project for her boss. I go to tell Sung-Mai to pack up. On the way to her room I see a picture of me and Mai holding hands with Dad. I feel tears come to my eyes but I force them back. I won't cry over that dick anymore, and I won't let Sung-Mai see that her Dad really isn't coming back. I walk past the picture with deep hatred for my dad. He doesn't deserve that title from me and Sung-Mai, Mesi hasn't been our dad for over a year. After Mum found out about the affair he cut off all ties with us. Never-mind we are his own flesh and blood. I walk into Sung-Mai room and see her playing dolls on the floor. I smiled and said,
"Hey Mai. Wanna hear my idea?" So I lied to see her smile, don't judge, I really love this girl.
"Yeth sissy!"
"How about you go on the camping trip with me and Lyric?" I said while leaning to my sister.
"Weawwy! Foweal!? Tank you sissy!" She said in her cute lisp and ran to hug me.
I smiled and hugged her back releasing a giggle. I might not want her to come on the trip with us, but I raised her because Mum is always so busy, and Mesi is gone. I don't mind, she was a well behaved baby, and a well behaved kid. I can't believe she's turning five in three months. She's growing up so fucking fast. So am I. I'm about to be sixteen. This trip is to celebrate mine and Lyric's birthday. I let go of the hug and say,
"You go get in the bath and clean your room, okay? I'm gonna start dinner."
"Okie sissy!"
I ruffle her hair smile at her and walk out the room. As I'm walking to the kitchen I'm wondering what to cook. I know Sung-Mai loves Japchae and we have everything to make it, but Mum is finally here for dinner and she wants Bulgogi. So I have to run down to the store for beef. I could use pork, but Sung-Mai hates pork. Almost as much as she hates cleaning, which is a lot. I walk to the kitchen and tell Mum I'm running to the store before I grab my purse and keys. I get in the car and set my purse in the passenger seat. I start the care and make my way to the food market down the road.
Walking in i see Soon-bin. My ex, the one i was still deeply in love with. The one that cheated and lied. We make eye contact and i break it with a roll of my eyes. I run to the meat isle and grab what i need before going to the exit counter, which Soon-bin is happily working. I put my things up on the counter and dont look down. I refuse to let him see that he acutally hurt me. As many times as he tried to get me to talk i stick to ignoring him and waiting for my purchase.
"Thank you, come again!"
I nod my head and go to walk out the store when Soon-bin grabs my arm. I stop and lool back at him, he gives me a sad look and i feel my eyes brim with tears aching to be released. I tug at my arm desperately trying to ignore the tingles I feel when he touches me.
"Min-Ivy! Please let me explain! I refuse to allow you to leave me. I wont let you go, just please hear me out! Please!"
I suck in air and feel a stray tear escape. I stop struggling and walk up to him. Tugging gently at my wrist, he lets it go. I place both of my hands gently on his face and give him a soft yet quick peck. I didn't realize how much I missed his lips. Pulling away I give him a small, sad, heartbroken smile and walk out of the shop.
When I get to my car I put the beef in the passenger seat and start my car. When I finally get home I park the car in the garage and walk inside.
