"Damn it, Keith. Why didn't you separate the candy like I told you to?" said Jace, staring at the bowl of candy with a frown. "How am I supposed to know which ones have the razors and which ones are poisoned?"

Keith rolled his eyes. "Shut up and just wrap the candy already."

Jace picked up a Milky Way and wrapped it with the correct wrapper, ensuring that no one would notice it was tampered with. "I wanted to put them in separate bowls. I told you that at the store when we were at the checkout aisle."

"Just assume that the big ones have the razor and the small ones have the poison. Now quit complaining and start wrapping—oh! My game just updated. Shut up so I can focus on this."

Jace wanted to berate his best friend for failing to do what was asked of him, but Keith was already absorbed in his game, so Jace wrapped the candy in silence.

Today was Halloween. He and Keith planned on having fun tonight, and part of their plan was to hand out the candy to the children. When they were purchasing the candy, they also bought a pack of razors, and a box of rat poison—that's the fun part about the candy. Fortunately, the cashier didn't question their suspicious purchase.

When they arrived at Jace's house, they unwrapped the candy and divided the work. Keith was in charge of putting razors and injecting poison in the candy, while Jace had to wrap them.

As much as Jace didn't want to admit it, Keith did an excellent job at tampering with the candy. Jace couldn't tell that Keith had put anything in it.

Now, Jace had to wrap the candy without having the parents notice their children's candies were opened. He learned that he was skillful and meticulous enough for this job when he did something similar last year at school on April 1rst.

He was annoyed with Claude's bullying, so he decided to prank him. Jace bought a Twix bar, unwrapped it, and ate it. Then he placed a beetle inside, taped the bar in a way that the tape was undetectable, and dropped it in Claude's backpack when Claude wasn't looking. Along with the bar, Jace had dropped a note that said:

I got this for you. Hope you like it!

-Ashton.

Jace was confident that Claude wouldn't be suspicious about the Twix since Ashton wasn't in the room to deny leaving a candy bar in his backpack.

When Claude opened the wrapper, he dropped it in shock, and yelled, "What the hell?"

Jace couldn't help but chuckle.

He should've concealed his amusement, because when Claude spotted him laughing, his expression twisted into rage. "Jace!" Claude yelled, springing from the floor to chase him. "You're dead when I get my hands on you!"

Jace's lips curved into a smile at the memory. Fortunately, Claude was never quick enough to catch him.

When he finished, Jace placed the bowl on the table, and went to sit on the couch. Jace picked up his book from the coffee table while Keith continued to play his video game. They did their activities while they waited for the trick or treaters to arrive.

At around 6 o'clock, the first trick or treater arrived. Jace and Keith faced each other with malicious smirks on their faces.

Jace picked up the bowl and answered the door; Keith stood next to him.

"Trick or treat!" said the children.

Jace frowned. They were two boys who were dressed as two of the members of Team Foxtrot. The older boy, who appeared to be around Amelia's age, was dressed as Blaise Riley. The younger one, who was probably around five or six, was dressed as Mason Zalman.
