Looking for a job is really hard, especially for a girl like me without even any degree in college. I've been on my fifth restaurant trying to apply as waitress but luck is not with me, the sun's going down and I need to go home and I'm starving.

Walking in the streets make my stomach growl more, seeing people eating inside the fancy restaurants, talking and laughing, I remember when my father and I used to go there just having a great time I smiled remembering those times, how I wish I can just go back in the past, but this is my life now

I reached the rusty door of my apartment, I don't know how the door been holding itself when the hinges are all rusted and the door have all scratches and some deformation but the doors like me, even I'm all broken I'm still here, alive and surviving this cruel world

I entered the familiar foyer the old umbrella rack that looks like it's from the Victorian era are all rusted that it stained the umbrellas placed in there I guess those are umbrellas are old too they weren't used since I started living here

I headed to the old creaking stairs, every steps sounds like you'll fall anytime, this should be fixed or someone might have an accident.

I saw my door at the end of the hallway, that familiar frosted glass that are dusty and haven't cleaned for years, upon passing the rooms the 3rd door was close with no lights, I guess the landlady's out, that's odd, she would usually burst out the door and ask for my rent

Yes, I'm renting in this crappy apartment, I have no choice because it's the only one I can afford or at least before I lost my job, I was supposed to be thrown out of my apartment if not for her son, Adam, who's my friend in high school, I'll be out in the streets sleeping.

I heard Adam just got a job, and I'm happy that he got one, while here I am, still looking for a job.

I was busy trying to get my keys from my bag when I heard the stairs creek indicating that someone was there, maybe the other living in the building just came. When I finally got the key and unlock my door I heard a woman called me

"Sam!" it's Mrs. Mills, I turned to look at her

"if you are asking for the rent, I still don't have money ma'am, I'm still looking for a job-" I was cut off

"I have a job for you. . ."

Did I heard that right? Mrs. Mills, who was a cold hearted, money minded lady would offer me a job?

"j-job?" I gulp, nervousness running in my system

"yes, you will accept it, whether you like it or not"

Of course I'll accept it, I desperately need to work. And I desperately need money
