Chapter 26: A Mistaken Kiss

Yeah now that is done with, I walk downstairs for breakfast. Everyone is already on the table so I call out a good morining to everyone as I walk towards my seat. Hayley is super charged this morning and is jumping up and down on her seat.

"Hayley calm down honey. You're going to spill you cereal." Mom chided her lightly.

"But I am so happy mommy!" She practically yelled back in excitement. I smiled at her response, she is just so cute!

"And why is that, my cutiepie?" Dad asked Halyely lovingly. Dad really loves her a lot. While my mother thought she was a mistake, dad clearly thought of her a blessing in disguise. She had brought us closer as a family. She had helped us survive those days with her cute face and beautiful smile. And most importantly, she was the one to bring dad and mom together. I smiled at Hayley with adoration as she told our parents:

"Because Ellie is coming today and we'll have dinner together. And we are going to play a lot with all my dolls. And watch a movie."

I choked on my apple juice as mom gave me a sly smile and said:

"Oh so thats why you were so bent on having your beauty sleep? You should have told me son and I would've let you sleep. After all, its for El."

I groaned at her teasing as dad laughed and Hayley joined him.

"Mommmm" I protested.

"Why are you practicing a moan honey? For later tonight is it?" Mom asked, making me blush at her question.

I chided her at her extremely obvious reference and said:

"Seriously mom, there is a kid around."

"Hey, what did I say?" Mom protested raising her hands up and looking at dad. And being the ever faithful husband he is, he just shrugged. I tutted and shook my hand in response as I stood up to clear the dishes.

It was when I was in the kitchen, mom walked in and asked me in a serious tone:

"So is everything good between you two?"

"I guess" I said with a shrug.

"What do you mean you guess?" She persisted. Hell, she is a very persistent woman.

"Well. we're starting off as friends. We talked about our pasts too yesterday. She encouraged me to get over mother for us all." I briefed mom.

Mom smiled and said:

"She's a really good girl. She is good for you. Don't mess up this time, Ed. Keep her this time."

I smiled at mom's advice and told her solemnly my intentions:

"I will."

As mom and dad were leaving for their trip, mom called out to me:

"Don't try anything dirty, Ed sweetie. You have a kid with you."

I laughed as she winked at me and waved back to her and dad. Once the car left, I took hold of Hayley's hand and walked inside.

"What did mom mean by dirty Eddie?" Hayley asked me innocently.

This kid has one serious curiousity bug. She always wants to know everything. I thought up of an excuse quickly and said:

"She meant we should not have a food fight toady with Ellie when she comes tonight."
