It was the day of Aelin Ashryver Whitehorn Galathynius' coronation when she caught the eye of someone she didn't know she'd ever see again. A friend who she told to run back in Rifthold when she competed in the king's championship. It felt like a lifetime ago since she left Rifthold. In a way it was. Celaena Sardothien was no more after the human part of her had been stripped away. Oh how she would miss shifting.

A smile lit up her face when she saw Nox Owen sitting and grinning at her. He gave her a little salute as he watched her officially be crowned as the Queen of Terrasen. She would have to catch up with him later she thought.

After the ceremonial bit of the coronation was over, there was a large celebration feast. As much as Aelin loved eating, it would have to wait for a minute as she stepped outside onto the brown balcony overhanging the lush, green garden. Even though she had been preparing for this moment for years, she still had to take a moment to recollect herself from the overwhelming amount of emotions she was feeling. Sad, happy, proud, there was just too many. She took a moment to take in her surroundings and thought about the life ahead of her with Rowan. She didn't know how long she stood there before there were footsteps behind her that she knew didn't belong to Rowan. Slowly she turned her head around to be met with the face of Nox Owen. Her face immediately lit up at the sight of him. "I just wanted to wish you luck with ruling your new acquired kingdom, your Majesty." He gave her an almost mocking bow with a shit eating grin plastered all over his face. "Hilarious," Aelin tried and failed to look unimpressed, rolling her eyes while trying not to grin in the process. "So how has my favourite thief-spy been going?" Lysandra and Aedion had filled her in on everything that happened during the time that they were separated. And she had been surprised to know that Nox was also a spy working from the inside of Rifthold. "Never been better, thanks to you of course. Oh, and congratulations on your marriage that you never told anyone about." Ah, so he had heard about that. She wondered from who.

"Thanks." She replied before adding; "What have you been doing for the past couple of years?"

"Nothing much, only thief and spy things. No but really all I've been doing is being a messenger of sorts. There's not much to me now. After this I'll head back to Perranth and I guess I'll go back to being a thief." He shrugged and sighed looking at Aelin hopelessly.

"Don't look at me like that! The war has finished! Do something exciting! If not, I do know the Lady of Perranth pretty well and I'm sure she can assign something for you do. Living your life as a thief isn't very...fulfilling."

"Says you. Going from an assassin to queen is a pretty big jump. Gee who knew a savage could turn into royalty," Aelin stuck her tongue out at him. "Perhaps I'll become a lord of a sort." He wondered as if he was actually thinking about it. Aelin let out a small chuckle.

"Whatever you want Nox, just don't get into any stupid competitions for spying purposes please?"

"Whatever you want, your Majesty," He sniggered before looking around scanning the garden surrounding them. She could tell he wanted to explore more. "I should be going now...See you around I guess?"

"Till we meet again Owen." She gave him a small smile before replicating his salute he gave her before.

I wrote this on a whim after finishing Kingdom of Ash. I was sooo excited to see Aelin and Nox reunite after he made an appearance in the book, but sadly, that never happened. Sorry if it's a bit rushed and if the characters are out of character. I found the banter quite hard to write. I also may or may not be working on an Elorcan and TOG and ACOTAR crossover. However, I don't know if they will be released very soon. But anyways thank you for reading!
