"Come on! Please? We miss you!"

I almost wanted to say yes, to say i'd go but I can't...

"I'm sorry, I j-just can't..."

The familiar sting of early tears held my eyes as I turned away from my only friends. Again. I kept telling myself it was for the best, but was it?

I could hear Jayden yelling back at me but I didn't stop walking. Jayden, my first friend, my best friend. We met back when my dad had met his parents  and well it started out great, and was great for many years. Ten to be exact.

"Come on Jay' you know she won't."

"You know she doesn't want us to get involved..."

"I miss her."

Kayla, Zach, Michelle. Oh god, just keep walking! It took every ounce of strength I had not to run back and throw myself in there arms. I put my hoodie over my head and threw my hands in my pockets.

A large pit of anger held my breath, this is all her fault. That dumb bitch! I continued yelling out in my head, tho deep down it wasn't her fault.

Mom. God since the death of dad she's never the same. She's not that beautiful kind women that raised me. Now shes just...abusive.

Not physically, but verbally.

To her i'm just some useless maid. That pest that never goes away.

Before I knew it I stood at the door to my depressing house. I stood there still for a moment before pushing the door open, I can already see Riley, my baby brother, sitting at the kitchen with his tongue sticking out. I force on a smile.

"Hey bro, whats up?"

He looks up and smiles brightly, his bright green eyes bouncing up and down.

"Big sis! Your home!"

In less than a flash he jumps into my arms and hugs me. I pat his head and put him down, since hes much shorter than me. God, just seeing him makes my shitty life a little brighter.

"Wait didn't.. weren't you.. what about your thing with your friends?"

I shake my head and grab his hand. It grows silent, he knew why, I told him every time.

"Oh.. sorry."

"Its okay bro, really, plus I love spending time with you too."

He looked confused for a moment before nodding and pulling me towards the kitchen, the sink was a normally full and the counters dirty but the floor looked nice and clean. He must have done it...

"look what i'm working on!"

I glance down at a sheet of paper on the table, its a drawing of him and me with as super heroes. I'm Molly Hayes, a thirteen year old girl the same age as I but with amazing strength, most say shes stronger than the gods and Riley's Mister X, a mutant with the ability to read his opponent's minds, so knowing there next move, and has learned every fighting style known to man.

To be honest for an eight year old, this was really good, the details were amazing, ten times better than me.

It was so much like our dad.

He could draw for the world, I was able to hide his drawings up in my room before my mom ever had a chance to ruin them. I also took his "new" black jacket with super soft fur and hide it in my closet.

"This is amazing Riley!"

I held his shoulder, grinning ear to ear for him. He hugged me quickly than hopped back in his chair and started coloring it in. I sighed and headed over to the sink.
