#2 Heart & Soul

  Why did he have the feeling that Yunlan was ignoring him? Had he said or done something wrong? He couldn't recall, rather, he was sure he was innocent, because he didn't usually say or do anything that would irritate the Chief of SID. However, it was already two days that they exchanged nothing but hasty words of circumstance, while with the others at the station the chats were unchanged. He had the feeling that Yunlan was doing everything he could to avoid his gaze, but Wei couldn't understand why. The evening came. Wei was relaxing in the company of a good book when he heard the door of the apartment open. There was a hit against something hard and the following restrained lament, which announced the return of Yunlan.

-Finally at home. Wei Wei, I hit the locker again!!

-He speaks.

  At first, Yunlan didn't understand the reason behind the joke, but then he remembered his behavior over the past two days and laughed. Wei gritted his teeth. Was he kidding him? Wei put the book down and stood up, passing over the other one without a look.

-Hey, hey, hey, wait a sec.

  Yunlan stopped him, grabbing him by the arm and smiled.

-Sorry, I know I behaved strangely these days, but it was for good reason.

  Wei raised an eyebrow sarcastically. Without saying anything, the other one went to turn on the stereo and the room was filled with their song. Wei's expression changed and he looked at Yunlan confused. Yunlan put a hand in the pocket of his black jacket and took out a small gift box, which he held to Wei.

-Happy birthday, Little Wei.

  Here they are! Those big puppy eyes, full of confusion, surprise, but also relief. They were Yunlan's weakness. Wei closed his eyes. He was completely taken aback. He had almost forgotten what day it was, after the whirl of feelings that had overwhelmed him by being ignored by Yunlan. Wei smiled and took the little box and he unwrapped it: there were two silver necklaces, each with a small flame and a half heart inside as a pendant. Wei looked up, expressively again and Yunlan scratched his head in embarrassment, then pointed Wei.

-See, it's your fault. That's why I was forced to ignore you. How can I resist that look? I would have spilled the beans in a moment and it would no longer be a surprise.

  Wei smiled, amused. How could he have doubted Yunlan's love? He felt incredibly stupid.

-Sorry. Thank you, it's really a nice surprise.

  Yunlan waved to Wei to give the package back and turn around. Yunlan put one of the two necklaces around Wei's neck and Wei did the same to Yunlan, without making him turn around. Wei touched Yunlan's lips when finished. Wei loves those lips, capable of pronouncing cheeky words, but also words of love. And they were only his.

-I love you.

  It was Yunlan's turn to feel caught off guard. Wei was not used to exposing himself so openly and Yunlan couldn't help but felling good. He was almost moved. He sniffled, swelling his chest and pretending that those words hadn't touched him.

-Thanks.

  Wei shook his head, amused. He took that as much delicate as important symbol around his neck between his fingers and smiled to himself. Yunlan noticed him and he could do nothing but smile. Then, the Chief took professor's hand and took him to the SID, where they were greeted by great celebrations by the team. For better or worse, Yunlan always knew how to torment Wei. Wei couldn't help but love Yunlan.
