I hear a car in the distance,
As it gets closer, its headlights intrude in on the darkness that helps define its consistence.
I smell the sweet bitterness of the autumn wind,
It's light enough that the leaves stay pinned.
Once the car passes, the only light that takes place are the many stars that fill up the night sky.
I feel the soft grass that provides a little bit of padding beneath me,
As I lay my head down, dreaming that I'm free.
I lay there calmly staring into the night's eyes.
Thinking about how it all could be a disguise.
It's the perfect escape from this belligerent mess that we call society.
