Plastic Oceans

        Who would have thought that Plastic would be a plague on planet earth, well no one. Over the past years, production of plastics increased in all parts of the world resulting in a build up of these deadly plastics in our beaches, oceans and even on land since persons do not know how to properly discord of their garbage. The worst part is that these plastics don't biodegrade, they break up into tiny pieces which are consumed by fish and sea mammals. 

   Plastic is killing more than 100,000 sea turtles and birds a year from ingestion and entanglement.  Chemicals in plastics are released into the water as well as the atmosphere. Fish easily become contaminated from the chemicals in the water. Different plastics spread throughout the ocean. As Styrofoam breaks into smaller parts, polystyrene components in it sink lower in the ocean, so that the pollutant spreads throughout the sea column. In fact, not only do the toxins in plastic affect the ocean, but acting like sponges, they soak up other toxins from outside sources before entering the ocean. As these chemicals are ingested by animals in the ocean, this is not good for humans. We as humans ingest contaminated fish and mammals.

Now many people on Earth suffer fromcancers, birth defects, immune system problems, and childhood developmental issues. Most of marine life has been wiped out and the governments are still trying to figure out a way to solve the problem, as least that is what the world thinks.

living near the ocean, was a blessing a few years back, where the waves rush along the shore and the blue clear water glisten in the sun and even at nights when the moon light illuminates on it. But now all I see is water bottles, straws, Plastic bags, cups, forks and other plastic materials along with dead fishes floating on the surface of the water. Swimming in these oceans could cause suffocation especially among kids and drowning would be more frequent.

The  plague have caused less tourist in different parts of the world and even a decrease in trading which places the countries at a risk since their economies are deflating. The production of plastics won't seize now since it is relatively cheap to manufacture them.

In years to come, we will face the crisis of not having any rivers, beaches or oceans left and the Earth will be a garbage filled one with widespread diseases  and also limited water supplies to use to sustain life. We will be left without any form of sea food or even plants, fruits and vegetables since plastics will be filling the land. There will be no turning back from this tragic problem that we as humans caused by polluting the Earth with plastics. And we are left with nothing but plastic oceans.
