I recall meeting a girl not a long time ago. She looked beautiful with sparkling eyes and innocent laugh but surprisingly had a broken smile. I never understood the combination because she looked happy, but her smile said something was broken inside her. Next day I saw her again with the same lively Eyes and heart full laugh, I decided to ask her about her story.

She never told me anything just gave me that broken smile of hers and remained silent. From that day I saw her every day. I asked her questions which she only answered with that smile of hers. Soon it even started haunting me in my dreams. I need to have my answers. Next day I asked her again but she never even looked at me.

Something was different about her that day. I looked at her more closely this time and saw something which I never noticed before. There were scars scattered all around her visible skin. They varied from big to small to deep to barely there, but none looked new. They were old scars, fading with time but not forgotten.

Before I can ask her about the scars, she answered me for the first time without even looking at me "Battle Scars" she said. And then she looked at me and smiled her beautiful broken smile which was oddly familiar to me. She kept on smiling and I kept on staring at her, blinking once, twice, thrice and I saw her face merging into something very familiar something known. I blinked again and saw my very own reflection staring at me.

Realization hit me like a tornado.

"The girl with the heart full laugh and broken smile was me".

"The girl with the scarred body but lively eyes was me".

"The girl who was robbed off her innocence yet pure was me".

"The girl who was left alone to pick herself up every time she fell was me".

"The girl who always talked but never expressed was me".

"The girl who always listened but was never listened of was me".

I was everything the mirror is reflecting right now but still it can never be me.

I have come a very long way from there to here. The journey was too crucial to be carried again and I remember every agonizing, exciting, terrifying and beautiful moments of it.
