<<Fred Weasley-Harry Potter>>

Thank you @NerdyPerdyPink for the suggestion!

(I don't know Harry Potter so I'll try my best and I know it won't be accurate, so I went with an AU where it's just normal school. I'm sorry)

You liked Fred Weasley. A lot. He was funny and cunning, much like yourself. You and the twins were famous across the school, and the three of you loved to get a good laugh out of the kind-spirited pranks. You and the twin terrors have been dubbed as the 'troublesome trio' and have been friends ever since school began. It was confusing at first trying to tell the two apart, but as time went by you figured it out. George understood how to tie his tie, Fred (quite clearly) did not. You always had to help him with it as if you were his mother.

You've come to grow attached to one of the gingers, and couldn't get him off your mind. It was frustrating, especially when you were trying to get some sleep. We're supposed to be friends, you thought, nothing more and nothing less. Simple. Besides, it's not like you have time for a relationship. You needed to focus on school!

Yeah, just focus on all the homework and assignments you had to do. All the annoying classmates that you had to deal with daily. His mischievous glittering eyes, his beautiful hair, his endearing personality. "No, quit that. Only friends." You huffed. That's what you kept telling yourself until you finally fell asleep.

A restless sleep made for a rather groggy morning. You got up and did your usual morning routine before school started.

It would be Fred's birthday soon, (he pestered you about it non-stop) and he was obsessed with anything magical or mythical. Maybe you could pull an expensive magical gift out your sleeve with your poor self and surprise him. Seeing him so happy would make your day. You would take a quick detour to the store on your way home that day, you decided.

As you were walking down the street to your school, you heard your name being shouted. Fred ran up to you, wheezing rather unattractively from his run. He panted your name and was able to collect himself enough to speak. "You gotta wait for me!" he whined, "that's what friends do!" Looking around, you realized that something was missing. "Where's George?" You asked. "Home-whew-sick. He might be there for a while," Fred replied. "What kind of sickness?" "Stomach flu, why?" "Just curious." The rest of the walk was comfortably quiet (except for Fred being over-dramatic about his run and all the exhaustion it caused) as you ambled towards the school before the two of you parted with a "Later" and walked off to your separate classes.

When school was over, you took a short-cut to avoid being caught by Fred. You still had a little present shopping to do. It wasn't too difficult, he couldn't run very fast despite his long legs, and you hid in the crowd of students trying to get where they were going. Once off school grounds, you quickly made it to the nearest magic store.

You looked, and looked, and looked. Nothing seemed legitimate in there; only stuff for kids. Just when you had lost hope and were about to head back, a box, unlike the others, suddenly caught your attention. How hadn't you noticed it before? Doesn't matter. You grabbed it and examined or for a bit; in large letters was the word 'DYNAMO MAGIC KIT' printed on the front along with a young male whose body stopped just below his shoulders with piercing blue eyes and black hair for his head and goatee. Cards were flying at his sides. You looked on the back at the display of pictures presenting the insides. It seemed like most of this stuff was legit.

The best part was that it wasn't that expensive at all. You were surprised, but you had a good feeling it was something he'd like. It even had a little wizard wand inside. You went up to the registrar to pay for your gift and went home without bumping into Fred-thankfully.

When you got home, you took special care to wrap the gift nicely for him the next day. It will all be worth it, you thought. To say you weren't the best wrapper was an understatement. You always ripped the paper every time you tried. But, you'd try just a little harder for him. With all that done, you went to bed and fell asleep easily.

The next day, you quickly got dressed and grabbed the gift and stuffed it into your bag before you left. You'd give it to him at lunch, as you two and George always sat together.

You waited for him to show up at the stop sign, as usual, this time, and he sat down not long after. "Jeez, with how much I wait on you, we'll get detention for being tardy." you teased. "Ah, whatever. You know what day it is?" "Uh, hump day?"

"No!" He said with a pout. "Dude, I have no idea what you're talking about. Nothing important goes on today."

"It's my birthday," he cried with a betrayed glare.

"Oh. I can't believe I didn't get you a present," you said sadly. "Aw! Come on! You're my friend. You have to give me presents! It's what friends do!"

"Maybe next year," you sighed, knowing he didn't believe you.

When lunch rolled around, you found each other easily at your eating space. He saw the wrapped gift in your hand and raised an eyebrow. "I thought you didn't give me a gift."

"I didn't, I found this outside," you said sarcastically, thrusting the box into his hands. "Now open it!" He tore it and grinned happily at his new magic kit. You smiled in return and sat next to him. He turned to you with what... probably wasn't a smitten look, right? "Thank you, you always know just what I like." He set the gift down and gave you a firm hug. You can unashamedly admit that you quite liked it for reasons that weren't entirely platonic.

The hug lasted a little longer than you'd consider normal, not that you were complaining. It made your heart race with affection and cheeks flare at the proximity. When he pulled away, he sighed sadly. "You know, maybe I wished for something a little more than a magic kit," he teased. You rolled your eyes and leaned up to kiss his cheek.

You leaned back and admired his pink-tinged face, relishing the soft tingle on your lips where they met his skin. Your heart spiked with realization at what you just did, and you quickly tried to play it off. "Th-there, better?"

He smiled warmly and giddily before pulling you back towards him. "Just what I wished for," he responded smoothly, his short, ginger hair tickling your cheek as you enjoyed the embrace. All in all, he could safely say that you were a far better present.
