BANG BANG BANG
I groggily rubbed my eyes and peered over at my phone.
3 a.m.
Who would be knocking at my door at this hour?
A burst of thunder made me jump and then the series of knocks continued again. Maybe against my better judgment I got decided to get up from my bed and make my way to the front door of the apartment.
The living room was being lit buy the tv.
"Hey roomie is that you?" I called out from the doorway of my bedroom, one hand still squeezing the doorknob.
No one had answered.
"Well demons if you're out there I'm coming out to turn the TV off, because you're not the one who's paying the electricity bill."
I slowly released my hand from the doorknob and bounced towards the tv. As soon as I turned it off. I took a breath.
BANG BANG BANG
I ran into the kitchen stumbling to find a light switch to turn on.
"Hey Diana are you there? It's me Harry. I know this is strange but my car broke down and I'm locked out here in the rain. Can I come in for a bit?"
My hand left my chest and I exhaled.
"Jesus Christ. Uhhh sure give me a second."
Well now this opened up way more questions. Why was he here? Suddenly being scared of a home intruder seemed less strange.
I unlatched the door and he was standing there soaking wet.
"Hi," he said with his hand behind his neck.
"Are you alright? Do you want a towel or something?" I gestured him to come inside.
"Yeah that'd be great thank you so much."
My unexpected guest stepped into the house as I shut the door. I folded my arms and shifted back and forth slightly while he helped himself to making a puddle in the living room.
"Sorry..." he said while starting to take off his jacket. I watched him gently set it across the counter.
We accidentally made extended eye contact. Then I awkwardly pointed to the bathroom and explained, "Oh no I'm sorry I'm just...confused. Let me get this towel I promised you."
I rummaged through the linen closet trying to find a towel that I thought hadn't been used already. All I could hear was his wet boots squeaking on the floor.
"So what's wrong with your car? Actually are you even allowed to drive here?"
"I can drive."
I smiled to myself as I finally found the clean towel.
"You sure you just weren't driving on the wrong side of the street like your backwards people?" I opened the door right at the moment he pulled began to pull his shirt over his head.
"What's that's supposed to mean?" He casually answered back as if he wasn't stripping in front of his coworker.
"Uhhh..." were the only words that could seem to escape me as I handed him the towel. "It means I'll be in my bedroom you can sleep on the couch."
He ran the towel through his hair and against his long torso. I tried to turn as quickly as possible towards my need when he suddenly grabbed my hand and placed it on his belt buckle. "What if I want you to stay?" I just looked right up at him.
"What is happening?" My hand stayed stiff on the belt.
"What do you think?" He wrapped his hand around mind.
"Oh so this is happening, happening," I chuckled, "Well okay let's do this the-"
RINGGGGGGG
My eyes shot open to the sound of my alarm.
