A Change in Worlds.(Loki X Reader)

A Greater Part

You awake on the deck of the Helicarrier curled up on Emerald's forearm, her wings folded over you giving off a green glow through her wing membranes. You reach up and lightly trail a finger over one of her veins, still marveling how something so thin can carry something so significant. Emerald grumbles and opens a sleepy eye. She blinks, the eyelids coming together with a snick. You sit up when you hear voices coming from the doorways. 

The voices come closer, and you now realize that it is a furious Nick Fury.  "Find that damn girl now! That dragon is still here so she can't have gotten far!" You scramble from under Emerald's wing. 

Stretching, you yawn and act a bit more nonchalant than you feel. "Oi, what the hell is going on with all the noise." 

Fury and the other Avengers all turn to look at you, jaws agape. Except for Loki that is. The smug bastard knew where you were the whole time and just wanted to see a bit of chaos. 

Fury runs up to you grabbing you roughly by the arm and gives you a slight shake.  "Where the hell were you?" 

You raise an eyebrow. "Next to Emerald under her wing. Why?" 

Nick pauses for a moment. "Why were you under her wing?" 

This time you pull away and roll your eyes, "Sleeping. Duh. It's freaking 7 in the morning, and you expect me to sleep in those stupid metal cabins. No offense but I'd rather sleep with Emerald." 

With this remark, Emerald raises her head and yawns, showing her rather large teeth. Everyone decide right then to take a step back — all but Loki. You growl as he comes up and gives Emerald a rub on her muzzle. To your surprise, she lowers her head and gives her happy rumble. He looks at you with those bright green eyes, and you can feel the heat rising in your face. You quickly turn away and start fiddling with her harness. 

As you start laying out the harness you hear Loki cooing to Emerald. "Such a pretty girl. Very soft scales, and such a gorgeous green. Your rider did well picking that color harness for you Emerald. It suits you very well." You can't help but soften at that low voice. It's like silk. You look over your shoulder to see Emerald nuzzling him. He looks at you and gives a sideways grin. You gulp and turn back to the harness in front of you. 

You call back over your shoulder to Fury. "Hey, do you mind if we went for a flight. We might even show you what we can do. Plus it's good for her to get up and warmed." With that Emerald rises to her feet and shakes. 

She turns her head towards Fury. "Would you mind. I'd love to stretch my wings. Plus you may see that I'm far more agile than any of your modern aircraft. Especially the one I'm standing on. I could lap circles around this hunk of metal." 

With a flick of her tail, she moves over to you and steps into the harness, grabbing it and flinging over her shoulders. You start to fasten and center the belly buckles. You hear someone clearing their throat. You turn around and see Nick Fury nodding and walk to the edge close to the shelter. You grin at Emerald and once the buckles are fastened you back up a bit and leap onto her breast strap. 

"Whoa, whoa!" You turn to see Cap running towards you. You drop back down. He skids to a stop in front of you. "What do think you're doing?"

"Um getting on me," Emerald interjects. 

He looks between you and her.  "(Y/N), how did you get up on her? That was impressive." 

You grin and clamber back on her. "It's similar to that of ship rigging. Once you know where to place your hands and feet, it's quite easy to get up on her." You giggle with delight; then you feel a warmth next to you. You look to your side, and you come face to face with Loki. You freeze for a second, and you can feel his breath on your lips. Your mind then kicks into gear, and you squeal and skitter away. You hear him laugh behind you. 

You glare then and stand up. "Loki you are a complete ass hat, you know that right?" He looks at you with a glint in his eyes and your breath catches. Fucking hell he is gorgeous. That dark hair is just begging for you to run your fingers through it and you could get lost in those dark green eyes forever. You blink realizing that you had missed a question he asked and was staring at him dumbstruck. 

He lifts an eyebrow. "Would you mind if I joined on the flight?" You shake your head clearing it. 

Moving to another saddlebag where you grab an extra human harness. "Here clip yourself to Emerald's harness, and let's hope you can take some G-forces." 

You sit in the saddle and look back to see Loki clipping himself on and settling down. "Hey, scoot up here, that way her shoulder is not hitting you." 

You grab your i-pod and put on your favorite flight song. "Ready to go girl?" 

She looks back at you then rises on her hind legs, coming back down with a massive roar. She pushes off, and you launch into flight her wings beating to the music. The wind tears through your hair, and you can't help but give a whoop of delight.

You hear Loki grabbing on to Emeralds harness. You turn and reach out a hand for him. He grabs it and you pull him up to sit behind you. He's so close now and you can feel his hard leather armor up against your back. Emerald surges upward and Loki grabs the harness pieces next to your leg. You let out another whoop as you surge around the Helicarrier. You hear Loki give a shout as well in delight. You look over your shoulder and you see the biggest grin on his face. he looks down and locks eyes with you and leans forward. You turn quickly back around and urge Emerald into a dive. You plummet towards the ocean, pulling level just before and causing a surge of water in front of you. Emerald pushes towards the sky again and this time barrel rolls and twists around herself. You level out again and head back towards the Helicarrier. 

"My word. That was exhilarating!" Loki puts a hand on your shoulder and laughs into your ear. You melt at the sound of it. You can't help but laugh yourself. Finally Emerald lands with a bit of a run onto the tarmac of the Helicarrier. Both of you jump down from Emeralds back as she gives a shake. 

He turns to you with a wild look in his eyes. "We must do that again sometime." You can only nod, still breathless from the flight and him. Fury and the other Avengers come running towards you jaws open in awe. 

Thor thunders up to his brother. "How was it brother?!" 

Loki shakes his head and breathes for a second. "It was the most exhilarating thing that I have done." 

He turns to you again. "(Y/N), you are truly blessed to have a creature like this." You grin up at Emerald. 

She bows her head at the two gods. "I would like for you to come flying again Loki. It was nice for me to have someone else on my back for a change." You give Emerald a playful slap on the leg. She rumbles and moves off to go doze in the sun. 

Fury walks up to you. "I guess we might need to be recruiting you after all eh? Get Emerald settled then come in and we'll talk." You can only beam as you run over to Emerald and throw yourself onto her muzzle. You look into her eyes and both of you bust out laughing. You slide off and begin unfastening the buckles on the harness. You reach over to start getting her chest piece, when you see a pair of long fingered hands undo the buckle. You tilt your head back to see Loki's face above yours. He leans down and brushes his lips with yours. He smirks and walks off, leaving you dumbfounded and Emerald with a twinkle in her eye.

"Well, that was interesting. Will he do that to me?" You yelp and swat Emeralds chest. She rumbles with amusement and you finish getting the harness off her. As you lay it out, you can't help but look over your shoulder hoping to see Loki again but you have a feeling you'll see him inside. I can't be getting into this but he has been the only man to ever make me feel this way. Why? You laugh at yourself and give a final pat to Emerald on her leg. As you walk towards the headquarters, you feel the wind as Emerald pushes off again. This time to eat. 

You sigh. "What the hell am I going to do with that man?" You chuckle and disappear into the Helicarrier.
