I was looking out of the window while I felt a tear rolling down my cheek. This is it. I'm flying to LA. Alone. I'm on my own from now on. No mum who asks me every time before I leave home if I have everything with me what I need. No dad who sticks his head in my room every night just to say goodnight.
I may be sad because I need to leave my family and the few friends I have but this has been my dream for more than 6 years. This is my dream and I'm going to be happy in LA right?

I should introduce myself before I'm going to talk about my life.
My name is Maria Embers and I'm 18 years old. I'm from Germany and I've been raised in Cologne. I really like this city but I wanted to see something different. My life is not the best I could wish for but it could be worse. I think this is enough for now. You're going to find out more about me and my life if you continue reading.

The plane was about to take off so I just switched the airplane mode on and started to listen to music. I could see the beautiful cathedral which represents my hometown. I saw this so-called 'Kölner Dom' every day because my work was right next to it. I'm really going to miss this. Some memories started to play in my head. I remembered going shopping with my friends. Well if I'm honest we were just looking around because we were always broke. Especially me for always spending all my money for concerts. Talking about concerts. I love the buskers in cologne. All my friends were annoyed by me for always stopping when I saw one. I can't help it I just love music.
I decided to read some fanfictions during the flight. I don't want to think about all the memories. I want this. It's just hard to fly to an unknown city when you don't even know if you are going to find friends or a job.
The flight takes so long so I drifted off after a while but I didn't forget to set an alarm for one hour before we are going to land. Why? Because my ears suck and if I don't use special earplugs and if I don't do weird exercise my ears literally kill me. I needed some operations when I was a kid because I couldn't hear well. My eardrums are very thin and full of scars now so my ears hurt in situations normal people would just feel a bit of pressure in their ear. They even hurt when I have a cold or something like that.
Okay back to the story.
I woke up here and then but I managed to sleep a bit even thou the guy next to me snored very loud and thought that my seat was also his.
My alarm went off and I know what to do. I did my thing and we finally landed. My ears hurt so bad and I couldn't hear anything because of the earplugs that I still needed to leave in for 30 minutes.
This was my first time flying alone so I kinda panicked remembering that I needed to find the baggage claim on my own now. But I remembered that this is my life now and that I can handle this. I just followed the people from my plane. I got my luggage and tried to get out and find a taxi. I booked a hotel so I have a place to stay. I saved a lot of money so I could probably live in there for a while but that wasn't my plan. I wanted to get a place to live and I also wanted to get a job as soon as possible.
The car drive was silence but I was glad about that. I am so exhausted from the flight. When I arrived I paid the driver and checked in. The room was nothing special but it was okay. It's in the middle of the day. But I'm so jetlagged. I mean it's in the middle of the night in Germany right now so I just got to bed and slept till it was morning. Yep, I slept very long. Don't judge me, I need my sleep.
