For one photo shoot, Aaliyah had a glowing effect on it which was inspired by the saint thing where people are illuminated from behind, so she seemed almost like a religious icon. The photographer, Barron Claiborne was the first photographer to take her picture without her wearing sunglasses. He said he didn't see a point in taking a picture of someone if you can't see their eyes, so he refused to take her picture so her mother Diane told her to take her sunglasses off.
