Glamour

Chapter 1

     It was dark and the winter chill bit at my skin. Looking around me there were trees for miles. It was hard to see too far ahead of me as I started walking deeper into the woods. Suddenly there was an opening and in this opening there was a figure that I couldn't quite make out. Slowly I started backing away until I hit a tree behind me. Keeping quiet I made sure to keep my eyes on the form in the clearing. Trying to calm myself suddenly there was a light filling the clearing as the moon was coming out from behind the dark clouds. Suddenly the figure came into view as I made out the back of a man. His shoulder length hair was pulled back and gently blew in the wind. He was tall and had broad shoulders but there was something off about him. He had wings?! They were dark and transparent as the shimmered in the moonlight. Hearing myself gasp I quickly covered my mouth but it was too late. The man turned to look at me over his shoulders with his dark eyes glaring at me. I felt my heart race and my breath catch watching him. All of a sudden his lips began to move and before I could make out what he was saying he opened his mouth again and a loud piercing sound came out.

     Jumping up I realized it was just a dream as I leaned over turning off the alarm on my phone. Falling back onto my pillows with a sigh I calmed myself before getting out of bed to head to the bathroom. The weather was changing and the fall chill filled the house I shared with my best friend. Getting to the bathroom I turned on the shower and shed my pajamas as I entered and got clean. After I was finished I got out wrapping the towel around myself as I wiped the steam off the mirror and began to brush and dry my hair. While I was brushing my teeth the bathroom door opened as Liv, my best friend and roommate, entered still half asleep. Entering the shower she threw her clothes over then turned it on. As I was applying my makeup I looked over "Don't forget we have a meeting this morning to discuss the fall fest coming up." Hearing the groan from the shower I knew that she had forgotten...again. "Liv come on you promised that you would help me this year! It is our Sr year of college and we were going to make the most of it!" Poking her head out from the curtain she glares "Fine but you are getting the coffee and breakfast." Giving her a smile and a giggle I agreed before slipping out of the bathroom to go get dressed. 

     Pulling on my favorite jeans and sweater I head to the closet to get my knee high boots and slip those on. Grabbing my bag I make sure that everything I need is there and head out of the room. As I exit Liv is about to enter her room in a towel. "I will meet you at the cafe across from the school in ten minuets" she said. Giving her a nod I walk into the living room where I am greeted by Ein our corgie and stop and give him love when my phone rings. Looking at the screen I see that it is my friend Laura and pick it up. "Where are we meeting this morning?" she asks in a stressed tone. I giggle and respond "We are meeting at the cafe across from the campus. It was in the email." I hear her huff on the other end realizing that she forgot to check it. "I am headed there now so I will meet you there. Coffee and muffins will be waiting." Hearing the word free food she changes her tune "Ok I will be there shortly." Hanging up I give Ein his breakfast and some last pets before heading out the door towards the cafe.
