As I walked quietly down the torn path, I heard a snap of a twig and bit at my lip as I picked my own pace up, shoving my hands further into my jacket pocket. I began to see streetlights ahead of the path, but I was stopped short by a hand softly landing on my shoulder, making me quickly spin on my heels and prepare to swing before the facial features clicked in my memory.

"Chris, oh my god you scared me." I spoke as I rolled my eyes and he let his bright smile show as he shrugged. "That was my plan, so win for Chris." His voice showed his playful grin as I smiled and shook my head. "Well now you owe me a ride home." I spoke sweetly and he groaned jokingly. "Fine. But Alyx's in the car right now." He pointed behind him and I saw his car parked underneath a large tree.

"Well he's sitting in the back. Let's go!" I playfully pushed him as I spoke and started jogging to the car, hearing him follow behind me. The car doors clicked and I opened the passenger door to see Alyx on his phone. I snapped and he looked up before I pointed to the back seat and he groaned. "Why do you always hang out with my friends?" Alyx grinned as he spoke and I rolled my eyes as he got out before I jumped into the front seat.

"Because I'm older. I do what I want." I playfully smiled and spoke cooly. "Older by 15 minutes, wow." Alyx rolled his eyes playfully as he spoke and smiled to me. "Minutes still count." As I spoke I turned and saw Chris getting into the car. "I second that, twenty minutes older than Kaleb." Chris smiled and chuckled as he spoke.

"My leg was stuck, not fair." The sudden voice I didn't know was here made me slightly jump and I turned to see Kaleb in the back seat as well. "Didn't know Kaleb was here too." I spoke with an awkward chuckle and Alyx grinned.
"Like you've ever seen Chris without Kaleb." He spoke sarcastically and Kaleb laughed.
Oh shit.

"He's ditched me countless times to hang out with her." My eyes widened slightly at Kaleb's words and Chris looked down quickly. "You're kidding, right?" Alyx spoke with an awkward laugh and the car turned quiet, which made Alyx's smile slowly fade. "You guys really did that?" His voice showed irritation and I looked away and out the window.

"Wow, after all the times you were told not to..." Alyx's voice trailed and I chewed the inside of my lip.
"There's nothing wrong wit-"
"Shut up, Chris. Just take us home." Alyx's voice stopped Chris and I sighed quietly as Chris started the car and began driving.
Once Alyx and I got home he glared me down and shook his head. "What? Sorry I can't make friends with your friends." I spat with a rude tone as he rolled his eyes.

"I'm not stupid, Joa. You like him, he likes you." His voice was stern and I scoffed. "Do you think I'm just going to screw him? I like his personality, so what." My voice made my anger evident and he looked at me. "Do you not hear the shit Kaleb says about you? That's why I didn't want you to sit in the back. Not to oblige to your request, but to keep distance."

He spoke angrily as he ran a hand through his hair and my insecurities slowly creeped on me before I clenched my jaw. "Just because they're twins, doesn't mean they think the same. You of all people should know that." I swung my lanyard holding my keys in my hand and looked away from him. "And what do you mean by that?" Alyx's voice was quietly stern and I shook my head.

"Nothing. Drop it." I spoke quietly and he shook his head. "What did you mean." He glared at me while he spoke and I scoffed. "Nothing. Jesus, I went on a fucking walk to get away from you and Madison, but I still have to deal with you. I'm going out." I headed to the door as I spoke and he shook his head.
"Mom was rig-"

"Don't even finish that sentence, Alyx. Don't you fucking dare." My angry voice stopped his as I walked past him with a heavy shoulder nudge and left the house with a large slam of the door. I took the twenty minute walk to their house and used my own key to get in, not knocking as I looked around the room before I clenched my jaw and closed my eyes tightly, fighting back tears before I opened my eyes and saw Chris's figure in the dark room.

I let a quiet sniffle out and he walked to me, wrapping his large arms around me in a warm hug that I quickly hugged back into as I held back tears. I heard my phone chime in my back pocket and ignored it, only hugging him tighter. "What did he say?" His voice was quiet and barely audible. "He brought up somebody he shouldn't have." I whispered to him and unlocked my phone and saw Alyx's message he sent me.

Lyx: I'm sorry... I shouldn't have said that.

I locked my phone and looked away. "It's okay, he's just being a jackass." He slowly grinned and I held back laughter, partially smiling. "Have I earned to hear your cute laugh?" He raised an eyebrow as he asked and I gave an angry child pout and shook my head. "Then I guess I have to try harder." He spoke with a grin and picked me up, making me cover my mouth and I quietly squealed, making him chuckle.

"I hate you, Chris!" I spoke quickly yet quietly and he smiled. "I love you too, Joa." He grinned brightly.
