Soon after Tony and Steve's emotional conversation, Steve decided that it would be a good idea for them to get up and go for a walk. "Come on Tony it's not too bad," Steve sighed. "Are you serious? It's 6am!" Tony complained. "So? When I was in the army, we had to wake up at 5am every morning to prepare for battle and many nights we didn't sleep at all!" Steve replied. "Yes but-but! Aww screw it, let's go." Tony surrendered.
Steve smiled at his accomplishment.
Steve and Tony changed their clothes, ate some cereal and headed out into early New York City. As they walked closer to Central Park, Tony couldn't help but notice an animal shelter nearby. "Hey, Steve?"
"Yes, Tony?"
"How about we get a puppy?" Tony asked, slightly hopeful. "A what?" Steve replied. "You know, a dog." Tony answered. "I know what a puppy is, why do you want one though?"
"Well, as I previously stated, I feel as though I need a reason to be here"
"And you feel as though a dog is the purpose you're looking for?"
"Well, yes."
"Tony, what's the one thing I'm allergic to?"
"Oh my goodness! I totally forgot! How could I be so stupid? I'm so sorry Steve."
They walked around Central Park talking about work and the other avengers. Tony told Steve about his newest inventions whereas Steve explained the latest progress Wakanda had made on his friend, Bucky. Steve and Tony walked past a playground when the former came up with an idea, "Tony, we should adopt a child!" Steve almost shouted. "A what?" Tony exclaimed. "You know, a smaller human." Steve joked."Ha, ha very funny, Rodgers. But why would you want a child?"
"Well, Tony, you said that you wanted a purpose in life and when you were younger you always wanted kids, so why not?" Steve explained.
Later, at the tower, Tony thought to himself and went through the pros and cons of becoming a father. Steve and him had been dating for a few years now and they were ready for something as big as this but what if being part of a superhero family affected the child or put them in danger? Could they protect the child? Tony pondered. The stark tower was of course big enough for a child with a higher amount of security than any other building in America. "This is the purpose I have been searching for." Tony reminded himself.
"Honey can you come in here please" Tony shouted, hoping Steve was near. On cue, Steve walked in. "What's up babe?" Steve asked. "Let's do this!" Tony smiled and Steve exclaimed "We're going to be fathers!"
Joy flooded the room as the happy couple thought about their future together.
