It All Started With A Case

(Nines' POV)

The engine starts and the car drives off. "What the fuck took you so long, toaster?" reed says, still irritated. "I am positive that there was something there. There was not anything detectable on my scans." Reed rolls his eyes, "Jesus fuck, tin can, you only ever think about working, don't you?"

(Kara's POV)

Kara turns around and walks back to where Luther and Alice are, wondering if she will ever see him again. She's still curious when she walks back over to them.

(Nines' POV)

"Is there a problem with that, Detective Reed?" I say smoothly, noticing his reaction. He doesn't respond, but tightens his grip on the steering wheel. I get out of the car when we get to the station and I think over everything from the crime scene. Reed stares at me when I sit at the desk next to his. "Is there something you need, Detective?" He looks away. "Fuck off toaster."

(Kara's POV)

Kara finds Luther and Alice, saying, "I'm back." Alice runs over to her and hugs her, making Luther laugh slightly. she hugs Alice back, laughing a little.

(Nines' POV)

"Detective, I know something is on your mind." I say calmly. He glances at me for a second, then back at his computer screen, and then says, "Get me some coffee tin can." I get up and go over to the coffee pot, smirking slightly. I hesitate, realizing that even though I have only been active for a few weeks, I may already be deviating. I focus back on the coffee after realizing I filled the cup too full. I put a lid on it and wipe off my hand, which had been covered in coffee. I walk over to Gavin's desk and put it down in front of him. I sit back down at my desk and Gavin drinks some of the coffee. he practically spits it out onto his computer screen, and I look at him, mildly surprised. "Tin can what the hell did you put in this?!" He says angrily. "It is possible I could have mixed up the sugar and salt in the cabinet, Detective." My voice is level, and I smirk ever so slightly.

(Kara's POV)

Kara tells Luther about RK900 and how she thought he almost caught her. "Kara that was dangerous. He could've found you! Then he's find Alice!" He says quietly. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking and I was just really curious about him." Luther is about to say something when Alice suddenly says, "Kara look! Isn't that the lieutenant and Connor?" She points across the street to them. They don't notice the three deviants, and Connor seems to be... laughing. "Guess he wasn't deactivated after all." Luther says.

(Nines' POV)

"You son of a-" I suddenly smile, surprising Gavin to the point where he doesn't know what to do. "Are... are you smiling.. tin can what the fuck?" The smile disappears from my face as quickly as it appeared. "I do not know what you are talking about Detective Reed." He is about to say something when my LED flashes yellow. He hesitates, and doesn't say anything.

(Kara's POV)

Kara sees Connor laughing. "We should go see him, he's more than likely a deviant now so it should be safe." Luther looks hesitant, but says, "Okay, but we should still be cautious." Kara starts walking towards the android and the human, saying, "I know."

(Nines' POV)

"Nines..? Are you-" I suddenly stand up, accidentally tipping my chair over, making it bounce across the floor. Gavin jumps slightly, and sees that my LED is red. I start walking to the doors going outside the station. "Tin can where the fuck do you think you're going?!" He shouts, scrambling up to go after me.

(Kara's POV)

Connor spots Kara and the others and waves. Hank looks confused for a moment but looks over at the three of them. Kara and the other two walk over to the android and human pair. "You're the deviant that crossed the highway, right? Who's your friend?" Connor says to Kara. "This is Luther." Kara says, gesturing to the big android. "Nice to meet you Luther. I'm Connor, and this is Lieutenant Hank Anderson." Kara notices that Connor and Hank both have rings, but she decides to not say anything.

(Nine's POV)

I open the door to outside the station and walk out without any hesitation. I try to contact Amanda to figure out what's going on, but I can't. I notice my stress level is higher than normal. "Nines! Hold on a fucking second!" Gavin bursts out of the station a few minutes after I do, but I keep walking.

(Kara's POV)

"Connor I thought you were deactivated." Kara says. The android looked down at the sidewalk, but Hank says, "Turns out there's an emergency exit for his CyberLife programming. Connor's about as human as the rest of us." He nudges the android, who smiles. Connor looks at Alice. "This must be the little girl you were running with." He smiles calmly. "Yes, this is Alice." Connor smiles a little wider, and says, "Nice to meet you Alice." Luther is still wary of Connor and Hank, but not as much as before.

(Nines' POV)

Gavin catches up to me, stopping in front of me. I lock eyes with him. I can see the reflection of my LED in his eyes. It's blue, yellow, and red. "Nines what the fuck has gotten into you?!"

(Kara's POV)

"Oh, Connor, I saw RK900 a little bit ago." Kara tells Connor what she saw of his replacement. Connor tenses up slightly. His LED flashes yellow and red for a second, but Hank holds one of the android's hands, and the LED slowly turns blue again. "RK900... Nines. He's dangerous. And from what I've heard from Hank, he isn't going to be deviating any time soon." Hank laughs slightly. "You should see how Gavin looks at that android, Jesus fucking Christ it's hilarious." Connor smiles slightly. Kara tenses up when Connor says Nines is dangerous, but calms down quickly and smiles. "What do you mean Hank?" Connor says. Hank glances at Alice, and then whispers something to Connor, who immediately tries his best not to laugh. "Oh dear." The android says.

(Nines' POV)

I suddenly push Gavin against the nearest wall, my left hand inches away from his head. his stress levels skyrocket, and I hesitate. "Nines...?" He says quietly. I can practically hear the thirium rushing through my systems, and notice how insanely high my stress level is. Gavin looks terrified, but... his eyes show a hint of excitement and anticipation. "What... do you want from me... Detective Reed?" I say, my voice deeper than before.

(Kara's POV)

"What did he say?" Kara asks. She wanted to know what made him almost start laughing. "Well, it's like Gavin wants Nines to get a little... friendly... with him. And apparently, he looks rather desperate when the android isn't looking at him." Connor snickers slightly. Kara tries to not laugh but ends up laughing a little anyway.

Author's note: hOLY GOD that alone was a little over 1,700 some words and there is so SO much more to come. I will take suggestions for anything, and if anyone knows if I'm spelling thirium wrong, please correct me. I'll publish more soon I swear!
