A Walk

Up the Stairs we go
To a trail up the road
Damp grass englufs my nose
Dirt and gravel between my toes

Rose bushes wait for me
Where the sidewalk meets the street
Fragrant is the bushes flower
Only for a brief encounter

Standing woods look so gloom
Flowers on the branches at bloom
A sea of grass for one block
A glimpse of time spent at the park

Freedom makes my heart race
Furry creature begins my chase
Bliss fills me as it should
As this creature runs up the wood

Time stands still for a moment
For a while everything is perfect
One more stop down the road
Before its time to go home

Thrilled we greet each other
Seperated by a tall border
I announce myself and so does he,
A tug of my neck from the leash

Away we go around the block
Footsteps muffled on the sidewalk
Now the time to go inside is here
The scent of home is drawing near
