16 years ago, in a hospital in Tokyo, Japan, I came into this world. I opened my eyes, and the gentle face of a lovely woman greeted me. She held me close to her chest, and our heart bests fell in sync. As I felt the motherly love radiate off her, with a voice like the warmth of a fire on a cold winter's night, she said something that I couldn't understand, but it sounded like a stream of flowing silk. Our hazelnut brown eyes mirrored each other's gaze in love and curiosity as her voice was forever engraved into my memory. I closed my eyes, and the scent of a clean, toasty blanket on a frosty winter's morning swirled in the air. She is my mother, and I would know her as a filly knows her mother even in a big herd. As my mother laughed, which resembled the sweet jingling of bells, she lifted me up into the arms of a man. He cradled me with the utmost carefulness, like a lion king softly picking up his cub. In his deep brown eyes, I saw a clear, black sky filled with twinkling stars smiling down at me. He looked very different from my mother, but he had the same warmth of love that drifted off him like a kitten curled up next to an amber fire. His voice was that of a river of thick melted chocolate, and his short beard felt like a prickly forest upon my light brown curls when he kissed me on my tiny head. He is my father, and the conscientious way he held me was more meticulous than the giant holding his golden goose. I know he'll forever be the impregnable shield that protects and support me. I yawned, and my father gave me back to my mother. She slowly rocked me while singing a Japanese lullaby that sounded like the songs of heavenly angels. Looking up at my parent's affectionate faces, I know this is the beginning of a new adventure of life.
