"Okay what's up with America's most unwanted?" Dan chuckled , motioning at the makeshift advertisement I was taping on the wall. "New car fund. I'm pimping myself out." I smirked. "Why is the new car fund so unsexy?" Dan grinned. I could tell Dan didn't like it , I guess didn't feel the need to be sexy for a tutoring Ad. "Well off to be more unsexy in English class." I smiled. "Alright. Later." He laughed. I marched unenthusiastically to my first period. I enjoyed school for the most part , every part except for the people. Learning was more my speed. In english , the teacher assigned us a lyrical poetry assignment. I was really excited at first, music was everything I've ever been passionate about. I loved to sing, I just never wanted anyone to hear my voice. I desperately needed a bathroom break to clear my head. I just needed to feel the hot water from the sink run onto my hands. I felt a small, bitchy set of hands push me from my comfort. As always in times of extreme stress there she was , Veronica. "Move it , Frodo. Before you break the mirror." Even saying things as mean as this , her voice still sounded like velvet. I yanked paper towels from the holder. I just couldn't get past how much the incorrect usage of the character bothered me. "Quasimodo." I blurted. I stiffened my stance for a beat and then turned to face her. For a moment, she was full of innocence. Her pale face blushed at the challenge and blue eyes searched mine for something. Her light brown hair pulled into a ponytail, cascaded over her shoulder. She stomped towards me and yanked a paper towel out of the holder. Her plump lips curled into a pout. "What did you say?" She almost whispered. "Frodo is from lord of the Rings. You're thinking of Quasimodo from hunchback of Norte dame. He's ridiculed for his appearance and represents a stratified class." I answered. I almost wished I hadn't said anything as I watched her eyes go dark. "I meant looking at you makes me wanna gouge my eyes out." Veronica hissed. "I knew what you meant." I said calmly. I felt my heart drop. I wouldn't let her see how she affected me. I walked out of the restroom with my head held high. Next stop: biology. I slid into my seat next to Dan. We had microscopes which was super awesome. I stared into mine and zoned in and out as the teacher talked. I looked up to see Veronica a few seats ahead looking straight at me. Nobody had ever looked at me the way she was looking at me. Her head was turned over her shoulder just enough so her blue eyes could stare into mine. I couldn't help but stare back , she was so beautiful. She didn't break her gaze , I bit my lip with curiosity. Her lips were pressed in a permanent pink pout. Dan was talking to me but I didn't really hear what he was saying. My thoughts were too loud. Even when she looked away , I felt her gaze.
