It was Monday morning. Around 7 am. I was rudely awakened by the shrill beeping sound of my alarm clock. I wanted to throw it on the floor. Instead, I rose from the bed, pushed the button to off and stood up. I swiftly made my bed, grabbed my robe and found my way, bleary eyed, to the bathroom. Washed my face, then my teeth. Did those usual bathroom things and then got dressed. I made my way downstairs for a piping hot mug of green tea and a bowl of overnight oats (that I had purposefully prepared the night before) I never wake up easily. I'm quite sluggish for the first hour or two. And not exceptionally hungry enough to "cook" something.
Today was the day. My first day at my new job. After not working in an office for nearly 5 years, only from home, I was nervous. My fingers shook slightly as I added a teaspoon of sugar to my tea. I didn't know what to expect. I dressed more conservatively than usual. I was in a knee length black pencil skirt with a crisp white button up tucked inside. I had carefully rolled the sleeves just so. Adding a black crepe blazer to the ensemble. A stick straight ponytail for my hair and shiny oxfords on my feet. No heels for the first day.
I was hired for my expertise in computer programming. HTML, coding, all that. I know! A girly girl like me into computers and coding? You might ask. Well, I'm also an introvert who feels more at home behind a computer screen, music pumping in my ears and hiding out— from the rest of the World, especially people... so I applied. Figuring it would be an easy paycheck. A chance to dress up, some. And maybe, make some like minded friends? Who knows. We shall see, won't we?
