»Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die«

Standing in the middle of a bombed street in Sokovia, both scraps of paper and dust from the destroyed buildings blew around her short, red, sweat-stained, tousled hair and a cold shiver running down her spine awakened the feeling in Natasha Romanoff, a russian assassin, last worked for the american Agency SHIELD, that the fight they were having since 7 hours already wasn't over yet. She had to find the rest of her team to check whether they're okay or not, but neither Cap or Tony or Bruce were to be find.

Bruce. She wondered if he was okay after she saw him hulking out and running to the battlefront. The big guy missed being out Natasha remembered. Bruce kept him in his head for a very long time mostly because he was scared what would happen if the the hulk came out and they weren't prepared enough like in Johannesburg. Not even his own designed defense machine "Veronica" stopped the hulk until the hulkbuster, the giant suit of armor Tony invented, knocked him out.

She knew him good enough to realize that all those victims from that day were still hunting his thoughts. Having the apartment next to him in the Stark Tower she did hear his quiet sobs he tried to suppress so no one would hear it. It was a true challenge for her not to speak to him when he once again met her at the breakfast table with dark eye bags and even more grey hairs on his head, which she recognized as in another sleepless night he spent in the labor, drowned in his work and new technologies and artificial intelligences.

But speaking to him? Although they have been building up a very strong and unique relationship based on trust and respect in the last few weeks she still wasn't sure how he would react if she would confront him with his problems. He would probably back off like a shy deer in the forest.

Sadly Natasha knew for herself all too good that some demons inside his or her thoughts better not be awakened.

'Nethertheless' she thought to herself, 'I'm standing here again. Not only in the battlefield but at the brink of another apocalypse and without the person I lov- no. I do not. Love is for children, remember?'

But she couldn't deny her care for the doctor and she was scared of his reaction towards her when he transformed back.

Oh how many hours did she has to listen to his foreshadowing dark thoughts especially when civilians would be involved. But they didn't have a choice. She didn't have one when she decided to push Bruce down the abyss after she kissed him. She felt horrible because of that. Se knew it wasn't her decision to make and she knew after everything they've been through together it was a tough act of betrayal towards him.

She tried to stop her thoughts that were still going back to his soft lips, so shy on her own like he never kissed a girl before, and his hands placed on her shoulder and her waist so tenderly she would have wished they stayed there forever.

But the battle was different this time, the enemies became even stronger and they were losing. She looked up. The giant spaceship still remained in the clouds, although the gates haven't opened yet the constant tension was still extant. She picked up the radio set that hang loosely around her middle waist belt and spoke: "Tony? Steve? Anyone? Can u hear me? Where are you?!". But the signal loosened itself in the dark. She sighed.

Suddenly she became aware of the sound of a car and turned around.

"Oh my god."

In the most relaxed and laid-back way you can imagine someone to behave in an alien-apocalypse her partner in crime and incredibly stupid best friend Clint Barton itself sat at the wheel and grinned at her.

"Oh hello Miss Romanoff. Haven't seen you around in quite a while. Wanna drive at the beach?" he teased.

"Tell me again why we're friends Barton" she shot back rolling her eyes at the same moment.
