I didn't need to think twice. I need to leave. I ran full force although tired. So tired. I heard the growls and snarls behind me. They'll catch up to me in no time! I felt tears in my eyes. I hate this. I hate my life. I don't care if I'm not a werewolf. I don't care! My mate shouldn't have cared either. But no, he took his fathers side; the Alpha. He made me into their punching bag. Why? Why would he let them do that? I'm his mate. He rejected me; so what? That was no reason to hurt me even more.

The bushes and trees scraped my legs and I felt the cuts and bruises. Why were they chasing after me? Why should they want me back? Just then I felt tingles up my spine. No. Not him. Please don't let him catch up. I pushed on; panting and crying. I don't want him to catch me but, I know he will. Our pack has the worlds greatest trackers. A pair of jaws caught my ankle and I screamed in pain as I was thrown. There was an immense yelp as well. The yelp came from Eric, I know it did because of our mate bond. I crawled back against a tree.

"You think you're so clever." Eric said; he was now in his human form. He sneered at me. "Do you have any idea how much time we wasted tracking you down? Thirty minutes," He stated.

"If I'm such a waste of time why bother to come after me," I spoke, not caring to watch my mouth.

Suddenly his fist met my jaw. There was a loud crack and I blacked out for a couple seconds. He broke my jaw. My mate.

I cried silently as he grabbed my by my hair and began dragging me back. I didn't have the strength to fight. I begged for help, but who could hear me if all I could do is say it in my mind? Just then I remembered my pocketknife I had stuffed earlier in the torn, worn-out shorts. Slowly taking it out of my pocket I stabbed his hand with it. He cringed and let go of my hair and I took that opportunity to run.

"Get her!" He yelled to all the wolves that surrounded him to see if he was okay.

I didn't get to far because of the aching pain. I should've taken the train. I'm so stupid for thinking that they wouldn't look for me. Although Eric rejected me, he still needed me beside him so his wolf can stay put.

My leg was throbbing and I could barely even move it. I can't do anything in this state. They're going to drag me back home. Back into the cage where they sometimes fed me. Where I'd stay there for weeks at a time in the dark with no food or water or a shower or clothes or blankets or a pillow. I don't want to go back. I collapsed on the ground. Just let me die here. Please. Just let me die. I closed my eyes from the pain.

Something warm touched me. My arm began to tingle all over. No. Oh no. It's Eric.

"Mate." A male voice, not Eric's, said. What he said made my heart flutter and I didn't want this feeling to go away.

The man touched my face and suddenly put my jaw back in place; I whimpered. Then he took me into his arms and the sparks never left. Who is this guy? I heard growls all over. I couldn't open my eyes from my exhaustion. I heard a loud growl after everyone else's.

"Put her down," It was Eric. I felt his jealousy.

The man that had me carried in his arms only growled in response.

"That human is property of Stone Ridge Pack." I heard Eric say.

"Not anymore. This girl belongs to me," the man said and the way he said it sounded possessive and when he said it he had gripped me tighter against him.

"That is my mate," When Eric said that I felt my stomach flutter. He's never called me that out loud before.

The man that carried me started to shake. "Your mate?" he questioned. "You're either really stupid or something is really, really wrong with your head to make you think you can make me believe she's your mate."
