"See you," I replied, hanging up. I put my phone on my bag and sat down on the bed.
"Who was it?" Robert asked, slightly teasing. I probably started blushing.
"My brother," I said, unable to contain the excitement.
"Okay, just so you know, you have to exterminate any feelings you ever had for him. I know that you don't want to, but you have to. It'll make everything more awkward. I know that Darren Criss is extremely attractive, but you can't have any feelings whatsoever for him. He's your brother. Your family." Robert said.
"What makes you think I have feelings for him?" I asked.
"Maybe because you have an excessive amount of pictures of him on your phone," Robert said.
"Okay, maybe a few, but during Senior Year, everything was ruined. I promise," I said.
"Okay. So, I have an audition in two hours. Prepare the Starship," he said. I saluted and grinned. Ever since we discovered Starkid, Robert always went full Starkid hype before an audition. I shuffled the playlist. Get Back Up.
We both started dancing and singing along to the playlist until 8:28. Since this was a video chat audition, I had to get the right angle. "Luna, do not make me laugh," Robert said, starting to pale. The nervous jitters were getting to him.
"I won't make you laugh. Don't move the camera, I'll go get some water," I said to him. I came back to the room and there was a minute left. "You can do this. Good luck. Do you want me to go somewhere else?"
"No. Stay here," he said before the phone started ringing. I picked up and focused the camera on Robert. I gave him a thumbs-up and started to listen.
"Can you here me?" A voice said from the phone. Brian Holden. Wow. Surreal.
"Yep! Can you hear me?" Robert asked, regaining his composure.
"Yes! Splendid! So, this is the first intercontinental Starkid audition. Let's begin. So, let's start you off with singing. Do you know if you can get ahold of someone who will lend you their phone? I want to send you some music," Brian said. Robert nodded.
"Okay, so the number is (___)___-____," Robert said.
"And who am I sending it to? I want to make sure it's not your grandma or anything because this music is something you wouldn't like your grandmother reading," Brian said. I laughed with Robert.
"I sent it to my cousin/ best friend," Robert said, "Nothing to worry about."
"Okay. Can you get it?" I gave Robert my phone.
"Got it."
"Okay, so the rhythm for this is bam pum, bum pum, bum pum!" Brian said, "You can go whenever you are ready."
"Ja'far! Ja'far! Ja'far! No man who's just, could ever trust a face that triggers such disgust," Robert sang. They did a bit more singing before acting for a while.
"So, great job, I will let you know the results in a day or two. Thank you," Brian said.
"Thanks for this opportunity," Robert said. After a shared nod, we hung up.
"I wonder what this project is," I said after brushing my teeth and putting on my pajamas.
"It's about Ja'far I presume," he answered as we both plugged in our phones.
"Oh really I couldn't tell," I said sarcastically.
"Knock it off. It's all I have," he responded.
"Fine. But I'm exhausted. It's been a long day," I said.
"Just no Potters," he said.
"Okay, Starship then," I said, playing it and heading back to bed.
The next morning, I woke up to my phone ringing. It was only seven in the morning. After checking the caller ID, I picked up. "Hello," I said groggily.
"Sorry did I wake you up?" Darren asked.
"Yeah. But I have slept almost ten hours and the terrors were on their way," I said.
"Wait, what?"
"Sorry, I didn't explain. I've gotten night terrors for a large portion of my life. Ever since I was five and adopted. From what I've heard, the orphanage found me with bruises and I guess when I was young I was still working with dealing with the trauma, so they sparked. If I sleep too long, the night terrors come. They've gotten predictable which is handy," I explained.
"Have you found what helps?" He asked me. I paused for a few seconds. He didn't know what a fan of Starkid I was. After debating with myself, I finally told him.
"I listen to a Starkid soundtrack as I fall asleep," I said.
"Good thing you found something. Would you mind coming to America with me for a few weeks?" He asked.
"I wouldn't mind," I said with a smile.
"Well, it's actually really late where I am and there is a crying baby, so call you later?"
"Alright. See you," I said. We hung up and Robert was awake.
"Darren?" He asked.
"Yeah. It woke me up, but I was almost to ten hours, so that's good," I said.
"Alright. Well, go get food?"
"Yes please!" I replied. We went down to the kitchen where I found my mum cooking some stuff. "Good morning."
"Good morning!" She exclaimed back, quickly serving us pancakes. We each dove in.
"How was your audition, Robert?" Mum asked.
"It went well. Bit of singing and a bit of acting," he said.
"Good. Do you know when you'll get a call back?" Mum asked.
"Probably today or tomorrow," he responded.
"And Luna?"
"Yeah?"
"Tomorrow, you're meeting Darren at the airport around noon," Mum said, "He called you, right?"
"Yeah," I responded.
"Well, both of you are having great steps in your lives. I congratulate both of you," she said.
"Let's not forget yours, Mum," I said.
"Just remember, even though we found your biological brother, you'll always be my daughter," she said, "And this bump will become your little brother or sister."
I heard Robert's phone ring. "It's him. Okay, it's like midnight in America. Why is he calling me? Hello?"
I didn't hear the conversation, but Robert's face lit up and some point and I knew he secured a role. "You got it?" I asked him.
"I got it!" He exclaimed. I hugged him.
"You're part of Starkid!" I exclaimed.
Author's note and disclaimer:
Disclaimer: I only own Luna in this story and the plot line. I own nothing else.
Author's note: I felt bad for the wait, so here is chapter three to make you feel better about the cliffhanger. We're slowly getting more involved with Starkid, but we have a bit of time. I'm currently reading Crazy Rich Asians and it is phenomenal. I'm going to read the trilogy before watching the movie because I am a book addict.
