Vash waited outside of Roderich's house. He had knocked, and after a few seconds of nobody coming or even a noise from inside, he knocked again. That was five minutes ago, so Vash was going to wait.

Snow covered the ground, and he had on a dark coat. His cheeks and nose were rosy from the cold air outside. His boots shuffled and crunched on the frozen ground. His green scarf covered halfway of his chin, and his eyes were serious.

He was at the Austrian mans house because he finally got the nerve to ask him out. He had a 'crush' - Vash hated that word, it sounded so weak and girly! - on him for a while - more like half the year already.

It was already the first of December, and he had to ask Roderich out before the year ended. He promised himself, and Lilli.

Lilli, his little sister, had known as soon as he had that he was in love with Roderich. He was glad he didn't have to come put to her, she just asked him if he liked Roderich. She wasn't ashamed - on the contrary, she was quite proud.

The thought of his little sister made him happy, so this time he noticed that there was a doorbell on the wall to the right of the door. He buzzed it, and he heard it go off inside.

Oh god, he thought as his stomach tied in knots. What am I doing?

Vash heard some shuffling behind the door, and he shifted his feet. Just then, he heard an obnoxiously loud laugh, along with a familiar voice snapped back at it.

Oh, yeah. Did we forget to mention that Roderich lived with his cousins? Yes? Oh, sorry about that. Roderich lived with his cousins Ludwig and Gilbert. That had totally slipped poor Vash's mind!

Please let Roderich answer, please let Roderich answer... He prayed. The last thing I need right now is some annoying German demanding what I want from Roderich.

The door swung open, to show Gilbert peeking over Roderich's shoulder. His cheek was red, as if he had been hit, and his silvery haur was mussed up. Vash couldn't help but glare at him as he pulled his scarf away from his mouth.

Roderich noticed this, and quickly turned on him, shoving him out the way. Then, he just came back marching to see Vash at the door.

"Ludvig! Come get jour bruder!" Roderich shouted as he was pushibg against Gilbert, his sock-covered feet sliding on the tiled floor.

Out of nowhere, Ludwig was suddenly dragging his big brother away from them by his collar. "Zhis is soo unawesome, Lud!!!" He had shouted.

Roderich and Vash watched the two dissapear. Roderich them quickly fixed his white shirt and vest, readjusting his glasses. He looked back to Vash outside. His purple gaze held him there. "Ja?"

Vash's heart fluttered as he saw him, and his confidence was slowky draining away from his body in a puddle in the floor. How am I supposed to do this?! He had never asked anybody out, and nobody had every asked him out... How could he soak up all his courage and ask him?

Wait, did Roderich even know who Vash was? What if he didnt remember that one chance encounter at the market that one time? They had bumped into each over, and exchanged quiet apoligies and went their separete ways... Lilli commented on how he had beautiful eyes, and Vash had agreed. He wasn't too proud to say that he did some reaserch on the man.

"Uh, hello... I'm Vash Zwingli," he started. He stuck his hand out for a handshake. Even if he was rejected, at least he got to touch his hand.

"Ja, I know." He took his had and shook it gently.

He knew?

"You know? How?" Vash asked, his blonde eyebrows furrowing. His stomache was in a bow know, he was so nervous. Neither of them had taken their hands away.

"Erm... I ran into jou at zhe market and... I saw jou at my vorkplace..." He said, his cheeks turning a little pink. He was blushing.

"Oh," was all that Vash could say. Oh.

"Can I ask jou somezhing?" Roderich asked suddnly after. Vash nodded. He could ask him anything.

"Vould... Vould jou like to do somezhing later?" He asked, his face becoming redder.

Vash thought about it. Then, he realized what he actually meant by that. He had to say something funny, or flirty back to make it seem like he 'caught his drift'.

"Why not go now?" He asked, his cheeks blushing harder, and it wasnt because of the December weather.

Roderich nodded, and took his hand.. back. "I'll go get my coat," he said, and practically launched himself in search of a decent coat and boots. He even left the front door open.

Vash closed it and leaned against the wall beside it. He actually smiled, but he pulled his scarf up a ways to stay warm.
