Once a long, long time ago there was a time you could buy children with points. Some children were 1000 points and 100 points. The children that were 1000 points were very well-mannered,smart,kind and not a hand full to take care of. But children that were 100 points were un-mannered,not that smart, some were kind and some were not,and a HANDFUL!
Parents receive parent points (pp) which they can use to buy children. Most parents wait until they have a few thousand before trying to buy children.
