I stuffed my crinkled clothes into the wedges of the suitcase pugnaciously. Why should I have to deal with such treachery at this age. Mr and mrs Benston off to the luxurious retreat in southern Greece. How could they leave their beloved child destitute like this!?
I collapsed helplessly onto the carpet whinging like a baby. "My summer plans have crippled!" I moaned thrashing the floor, my tears perpetuating the furry rug.
I had formed a master plan of all the things I would do this summer. Meet Chloe, Katie and the other girls for the fantabulous New York five seasons holiday and of course endless shopping. I looked forward to spending quality family time but clearly I wasn't invited to the party. Now my plans had taken a turn for he worst. The countryside as I imagine is infested with old toothless farmers who carry sharp serrated pitch forks and the ubiquitous presence of mud, filth and grime.
It most definitely will not have any form of a shopping centre in the vicinity. Also the farmers market most certainly isn't a valid place to shop.
I would be waisting my precious three months of liberty encompassed in some ancient farm house with only the company of my crazy cousin Kyle to amuse. Seriously that is one abnormal child, hopefully he has become less strange, last time I saw him was 3 years ago at our grandmothers funeral. He practically just lurked in the reception playing minecraft throughout the entirety of the event.
If my parents truly wished to get me off their radar for the holidays at least send me somewhere less repulsive than this. Despite being an only child they had always treated me as their after thought.
I continue to cluster my skirts and summer cami's into the case spitefully.
I slam the luggage shut and chuck it down the marble staircase untill it crashes onto the weighted floor causing a raucous sound. We would be leaving soon to journey to that wretched place.
Gently I straighten my crumpled skirt and slouch down the stairs. "Honey we are leaving now, hope you are all ready". I spin around to see my mother glaring at me sceptically.
"Yeh yeh" I mumble evasively.
"Listen darling we want you to fully enjoy yourself at your Aunty Rhea's house,". I roll my eyes in exasperation
My father burst into the room making me startle, he wears the same type of black streamline suit everyday. "Listen Lydia we are seriously going to miss you, please don't be so upset". I stare into his guilt filled eyes and somehow relish in it for what they have done.
"Ok" I sigh tediously. "I promise you we will get you tickets for New York fashion week to make up for this"
I choose to ignore his propositions. He's tried to give me so many things in return for never being here. I spent half my childhood with my nanny, they are never around. Not only are they leaving me after only a month but their taking away my life as well!
*beep beep*
Damn the taxi is punctual. " ok we will see you after the holidays darling". Yeh I wonder how long the 'holidays' will be. They approach me awkwardly attempting to give me a hug or show any sign of affection as if it is somehow an unnatural feat for them. Mother gives me a fictitious smile of sincerity. I turn backwards striking them with a sheepish grin. Clutching my luggage I storm off thrusting the front door open. Prison here we come ...
