Chapter 1: Those eyes

Amira's Pov:

Finally halfway through senior year, I graduate in four and a half months. I've been waiting for this since grade nine. I've been beating high schools ass, good grades, I've never failed anything. I need to get into Princeton, how else is that going to happen?

"Amira! Snap out of it, we're you dreaming about Jessie again!?" My best friend sighs.

"Seriously Aniya? I'm so over him. I was thinking about how close we are to being out of here." I smile.

She rolls her eyes and stuffs her gym clothes into her bag. We head out of the change room and head straight to the cafe.

"The cafe has chicken nuggets now!!" Aniya exclaims excitedly.

I roll my eyes and find my way to our table. Everyone else has already found their way to join us.

"Mira, I heard there's a Princeton rep coming Thursday!" My best friend Kally exclaims.

"Yeah, she's coming to talk to all the kids that have applied to Princeton." I smile.

"So....you!?" She laughs.

"Me and two other kids. They're only accepting two ppl this year so..." I explain.

"You're obvi getting in! You have the best grades in the whole school!" My other friend Tyler exclaims.

"Well, me and some other person are tied. We've both been getting straight A's since grade nine." I shrug.

"Then they'll chose you two. That simple really." He sighs.

"Other kid is a Princeton generation. Technically already has the spot. But the rep still has to decide." I explain.

"That's ridiculous. Who are these kids?" Aniya asks.

"Princeton generation is some kid named Chase, other kid I'm not sure. He's new though. Just transferred here from L.A. but all his grades have been A's apparently. Never met him, probably seen him around though." I shrug.

"Bunch of nerds, why can't the smart guys be hot!?" Aniya exclaims.

"Excuse me!" I gasp.

"Babe, you know I think you're hot. But you're not a guy." She laughs.

I roll my eyes playfully and start to feel the pressure of my bladder.

"Be right back, gotta pee." I laugh and take off.

I walk to the bathroom, the hallways are empty like everyday during lunch. I feel strangely calm when I walk through the empty halls. Cause I know I can just close my eyes and won't hurt anyone cuz everybody is behind me.

Except I was wrong this time. I bump into someone and fall back onto the floor, my eyes still closed. I feel hands grab mine and pull me to my feet. I slowly open my eyes and I'm staring directly into these golden brown eyes,  they're sincere.

I suddenly hear voices and I'm brought back to reality, but still all I see is those eyes.

"See you around princess." He whispers and takes off.

I blink and before I know it he's gone. Who was that...who's eyes were those and...how do I see them again!?

I make my way back to the cafe, not needing to pee anymore. I sit at the table and everyone looks at me like I was missing for a week.

"It took you twenty five minutes to pee?" Kally exclaims.

"No...I, bumped into someone while walking and...it's nothing. Just spaced out. Sorry guys." I shrug.
