Our story begins in 1914 England and follows Sargent Oliver Smith and his time in the trenches. Oliver was born June 6th 1890 he joined the military in 1910. He was part of 56th platoon.

It's been three days since we went to war with the Germans my platoon,76th and 13th were the some of the first to arrive to Flanders. We are  currently dug in holding the Fritz while we wait for reinforcements to be sent from England. The trenches are like hell they have decomposing bodies in them there no actual food we're eating rats and lice they are filled with water and are most of the time under constant bombardment there's land between us and the Fritz if you were to go up there you have a death wish as soon as you leave the trenches Fritz got Guns on you. I'm lucky that my squad hasn't been sent over yet I'm dreading that day the other four in my squad there names are Joseph, John, James and Jack. I've know Joe since Basic training and I've known John and James since the government anticipated a war and my platoon as well as 76th and 13th Jack was only sent out about a week ago.

Three weeks later
The reinforcements have finally arrived the day after they did Fritz made a push but they gained little to no ground we are going to make a push soon just preying that we gain more land then Fritz did. Jack has been killed he was executed for desiring But it makes sense because he lied about his age he was only fifteen and the horrors we witnessed would push anyone to deserting at least he's gonna get a proper funeral unlike the men that die in No Mans Land. His parents will be devastated when they find out what happened but if our push is successful then this war should be over by Christmas.

Four months later
It's Christmas in three days and we've only made a little ground and this war won't be over for a lot longer. We've been bombarded by Fritz artillery shells when they stop they push then we push back it's a vicious circle. Since last time my platoon was sent back to England for a week and we learnt that Russia declared war on Germany.

2 days later

All evening there's been no gun fire and Fritz have been sing carols

The next morning

I woke up there was no gun fire and Fritz wasn't shooting at us we weren't shooting ether men Joesph was playing football with a group of Fritz we were trading alcohol and cigarettes and every on was happy instead of un happy like a normal day on the western front

Unfortunately Oliver smith died one week after Christmas and his body has never been found this diary is all that's left of him now
