The war was far from over. At least, In Harry's opinion that was. The ministry had yet to catch even half of the death eaters at large during the war. The situation was so dire that Harry even considered accepting the countless invitations for himself to become an auror. But he didn't want that, he wanted to go back to school. He needed the closure of being back there, in the place where so many fought for him, for their families. In the place where so many died. He needed to finish what he started seven years ago. More than anything else though, he needed to get out of the Weasley's home.

As much as Molly told him he was welcome in her home he couldn't help but feel that he had somewhat overstayed his welcome. Money was tight enough as it was at the moment with the Ministry having to cut many wages in order to fund the Auror Department to ensure that every last death eater was captured — not that the extra funds seemed to be helping a great deal — Harry wanted nothing more than to help out the Weasley's, but even if there was a possibility that they would accept his money, which they never would, Harry's bank account had been frozen for six months as a punishment for breaking into Gringotts. That's right, punished for helping, about sums up Harry's life right?

Harry woke early on the morning of the first of September. So early, in fact, that the only thing reassuring Harry of his consciousness was the silver sliver of moonlight splayed across the ever so contrasting sunset red hair that was currently tickling his face. He had dreamt that he was back in the war, standing before Voldemort who was laughing cruelly in his face. Though, just as the words which would supposedly seal his fate left the Dark Lord's unforgiving lips, a gut wrenching scream flooded his ears and suddenly a figure stood between him and his death only to fall limply to the ground not moments after he got a glimpse of that fiery hair. He had wanted to run to her, to hold her body in his arms but he couldn't. Everything went black and all he could hear was Ginny's scream playing over and over in his mind. He seemed to endure if for hours before he finally managed to will his eyes to open. He hadn't realised he was crying until a tear ran down his lip and onto the tip of his tongue. He watched her for hours after that, holding her tighter in his arms and watching the steady rise and fall of her chest as she slept, all the while reminding himself that it was just a dream, Ginny is alive, she isn't going anywhere.

Unaware when he had fallen back asleep, Harry awoke to a gentle prodding in his side. Opening his eyes, he was greeted by the grinning face of Ginny, her eyes were glossy in the now bright room, which was so much more cheerful in the daytime, and the way they wrinkled in the corners with her smile, Harry found to be utterly adorable. He couldn't stop himself when he unknowingly reached out to pull her small frame into him. She grunted minutely as her body hit his but nonetheless, buried her head into his neck. It was unspoken, she knew what had happened, she knew that he just needed her there in that moment. He needed her to hold him, as a silent reassurance that everything was fine now, or, would be fine at some time. Maybe not in a week, or a month, or even a year perhaps, but light would return. She was his light, she had been his light through the war, guiding him to press on, to return to her, so clear against anything else in the darkness that seemed to be surrounding him. He held her in that moment and he was quite sure he would be content never having to let her go, but inevitably she pulled away. Harry longed to reach out to pull her back and to never ever let her go, but he refrained. Ginny sighed, her entire demeanour changing suddenly to that of sadness and hurt.

"Harry," after sitting beside him and looking as though she was contemplating something very important, Ginny finally spoke in her soft, lulling voice.

"hmm?" was Harry's reply as he rolled over onto his side to face her.

Studying her, she looked as though she could cry at any moment. Well, he was right. A single tear managed to escape her electric blue eyes, which only minutes ago had held nothing but pure happiness. Instinctively, he sat up and gently took her face in his hands, using his thumb to brush the tear away. She leaned into his touch and let her eyes flutter closed painfully. Something about the action made Harry's hear drop, something stirred inside of him, a worry which he was unsure of the meaning.
