Chapter 3: First Time

"So...will you be my lab partner for science?"

"Um...I have to think about it seeing as Holly might..."

"Great! As long as you are thinking about it. I will be awaiting your answer tomorrow. Have a nice day Emma."

I just stared at him walking away. How did he know my name? But most all, why was he persistent is making me his lab partner? What could he possible want with me?? Why am I asking too much questions??

I am innocent! I have done nothing wrong!!

It's usually the innocent ones they go for I think...

The crowd that were gathered around the car park quickly dispersed. They were in complete shock and awe. I wouldn't blame them. I am as well.

I was lost in thought until Holy came skipping past me swishing her straight brown hair and into Jack's red car. Her blue eyes were staring intensely at me.

I just reassured her with a smile. Chloe and Jack came later hand in hand and slid into the car.

"Hey guys, how was school?" Jack turned to us expecting us to answer.

I just shrugged like the usual while Holly launched into a full story length of the assessments that are due and the ideas that she came up with.

I am not usually quiet around them since they are my friends and I am free to be myself around them but one person I least expected to talk to me just talked to me...How am I supposed to act??

I am pretty sure, this incident that took place must have travelled fast around the school. And I am pretty sure the truth will somehow be twisted.

"Emma...," Chloe said looking at me. "We have reached your house."

Seeing as I was deep in thoughts I didn't realise that I have reached my house. "Ok, thanks guys," I replied. "Do you think you can wait for me and drop me at my work place. I need to get a few things."

"Sure. Take your time...actually, I was joking....I will give you a minute to get your girly things," Jack said with a fake serious tone.

"I am just getting my work uniform and they are not girly," I said.

"Really?? And I thought you were a girl!"

Chloe smacked his arm and Jack recoiled with a pout. "You know that I was joking right..."

"Of course I do. Of all the times I have been with you, I know never to take things seriously from you," I said with a laugh.

"Ha ha ha, very funny. Get your bag Em," Jack said.

As I was unlocking the front door, Chloe came up to me. "Were you thinking about him in the car?" I knew who she was referring to as 'him'.

"Yeah," I replied with a nod.

"What did he want?" Chloe seemed very eager to know now. She looked.....worried.

"He wanted me to be his science partner..." Chloe wasn't as shocked like I was in the car park.

"So, should I be his science partner?" I asked Chloe waiting for her reply. She bit her lip and frowned. It looks as if though she is hiding something.

"It's your choice. Holly can go with Mary or whatever that goth girl's name is if you want," Chloe said with a shrug.

"Really..I feel as though he is playing a stupid prank on me. I really need your opinion Chloe," I said.

"Emma, to be honest, I don't really.... trust him," Chloe said looking down at her feet. Trust?? What is she talking about?

She hasn't even known or even talked to him to know if we should 'trust' him or not. "What are you talking about Chloe."

"I know he is cute and all but those kind of guys are the one you should watch out for. But it's completely your choice."

"Alright, thanks Chloe," I said with a sigh. "Hurry up and get your bag Em. Jack and I have a date," Chloe called after me.

I ran upstairs and got my work bag and my change of clothes. I then went back downstairs and into the kitchen where I took a bag of chips from the pantry.

Just when I was about to chuck the snack in my work bag, I heard the back door open slightly.

Oh no! Someone's robbing my house! In the middle of the day! Who does that??

Apparently that guy does. Or is it a girl? Arm yourself Emma. Call 911!!

I took a spoon in my hand and neared the back door of the house that was now slightly ajar. I know, I know, what a pathetic weapon right?

But a spoon can be dangerous...at times. I can just poke the robber in the eye and run for my life.....Yup, that's the plan. Poke him/her in the eye, run for your life and call 911 if you are still alive...

Great plan Emma, but there is one problem. You are supposed to stay alive, not throw yourself at death!!

That's just great. I am having a mental war at a time like this!

I could see a shadow moving slowly along with its body. I took 3 breaths hoping it won't be my last and jumped towards thief and landed on him/her and immediately started attacking the robber with my spoon.

I still haven't seen the thief's face.

"Ow, what the hell!!" It sounded deep and weary. The voice sounded almost unrecognisable but I could never forget that voice. It was my brother's....

Cliffhanger..... I love hanging on a cliff don't you? (I don't mean it literally though 😄).

Emma is weird character huh?? Who would take a spoon to attack her robber??!!

P.S. They are in America. But since I don't live in America, I don't know much about the lifestyle there so O basing things off other books since I can't really be bothered to check the internet..😄😄. I will have to eventually though..
