Holly Hamilton married Thomas Jefferson in 1809 at the end of his presidency. Alexander was of course pissed that his daughter eloped with Thomas Jefferson and challanged Jefferson to a duel when his presidency was over. Jefferson's gun misfired and Alexander shot Thomas in foot. That's why he could been seen with a limp. Alexander did forgive Holly in the end when he realized she was truly in love They had two children, Maria Jefferson and Thomas Jefferson JR. They got a divorce in 1811 when she found out he was sleeping with one of his slaves. Holly was nice enough not to tell the press this and just said that Jefferson's daughter from his previous marriage, Martha had been abusing her, which was true. She also said that the love was fading away and she couldn't deal with him anymore, which was also true. She bought a small house in Harlem and raised her two children. Alexander was pissed at this. He almost challanged Thomas to another duel, but luckily Maria stopped him.

The next day Alexander JR caught Maria attempting to commit suicide. He stopped her, luckily. Maria went on to tell her husbands story. She interviewed every soilder who fought by his side. She wrote an autobiography about her life and is a New York Times best seller to this day. She read everything he wrote and was devoted to him. She died on March 25th 1828 at the age of 59 surronded by family. Her last words were, "I get to see him again, it's only a matter of time." She was talking about Alexander.
