I looked down at the torn, yellowed ancient paper in my hand, it showed the name Mary Evans and a picture of a fair haired women with bright blue eyes. I looked further to the right on the paper and found out that she was in room 203 at the hospital and her birthday was 9/23/86, that made her 24 years old. I looked back up out the windshield; it was dark and rainy, but I could still see the hospital out the windshield. I sighed and pulled my hood up to shield me from some rain. I opened the door and slipped the piece of paper into the front pocket of my skinny jeans. I walked out into the rain toward the light of the hospital that was shining through the glass front doors. As I walked in I was greeted with smiles and the low whispering of nurses, I walked up to the lady at the front desk and waited patiently for her.

"May I help you?" she asked in a sweet voice when she got off the phone.

"Yes, do you know how to get to room 203?" I asked in monotonous tone. She turned to her computer and typed in something and turned back to face me.

"Are you a family member of Mary's' "she asked me with a doubtful raise of an eyebrow.

"Yes I am my name is Scarlet Evans, her niece, my aunt told me to come check up on her." I said slipping the lie out with ease.

"Okay sweetie, just walk down that hall and go up the elevator to the third floor and she'll be the first door on the left." She said smiling and then turned back around to answer the phone. I walked quickly down the hall and found the elevator I pressed the button and waited for the door to open. I glanced down at my watch and saw it was 10:42 pm. The door made a ding noise and opened I walked in and pressed the button. After a thud and the jerk upwards the elevators doors opened and I walked out and walked into the room 203. No one but Mary was in there thankfully; I didn't want to have to make up another accuse why I was there. I walked up to the clip board. It said she just gave birth to a baby girl about half hour ago. 'Great I have to take away someone else's mother, how many times have I had a case like this? Umm I think twice before.' I thought to myself as I walked to the head of the bed Mary was at.

"Sorry Mary, I really don't want to do this." I whispered in her ear and then closed my eyes and blew into her face and saw Mary lying in the bed with the heart monitor playing an endless beep. I took a step back in the shadows and willed them to hide me. I felt myself lighten and I knew I was hidden.

I stood in silence and watched the heart monitor; I could see the lines start to grow smaller and less frequent until there was only one long red line that stayed straight, with the endless beeping announcing that the earth lost one more person. After a second I started hearing yelling outside the door and then it busted in with nurses and someone I assume to be her husband come in and start crying, long heavy sobs. 'Jobs did, time to go.' I thought in the back of my head. With that I slid out the open door and down the hall still hidden; nothing more than a shadow to people. When I got outside I willed the shadows to let go of me, and walked through the night to my rusty black car. The drive back to the foster home was quiet, and long. 'Why do I have to kill people? Take them away from their loved ones? Why couldn't my dad have chosen my brother before he told me to kill him?' I asked myself. I sighed knowing it was no use complaining it wouldn't change anything. At least there are other people who have the same job as me; and they're all the sons and daughters of the devil and every one of them are my half brother or sister.

I pulled up in the foster homes drive way and parked the car. I walked in the house and up the stairs and in to my room which was the attic which I shared with my half sister Lucy. She was one of the devils daughters too, she's my age has blonde hair and sandy brown eyes, she's tall and she has an angelic voice; she's Goth to and we both had to kill our families as a test like the rest of the satin kids. I looked over at her bed and saw she was reading a book. I checked my watch and saw it was 2:26. I looked back up at her and saw her staring at me.
