The rain continued to pour outside the hospital window. Raimore hasn't seen rain like this in years, specially this time of year. You could hear the screams coming from the Queen's hospital room. The king rapidly pacing back and forth, stopping every few second to let out a grunt of frustration.
After nine months of anticipation, his first born was finally coming into the world. As a father the thought of having a daughter warmed his heart but as a king it would mean the unrest in the kingdom would finally end.
The doctor beacons King Allistair to delivery room, he intermediately follows, where his wife laid on the bed with a beautiful baby girl in her arms.
"Your majesty, you have a beautiful baby girl, congratulations!" He exclaimed as he left the new parents alone.
Tears welt in his eyes, looking at his newborn daughter. She had red hair just like his wife and blue eyes, she got that from him. His first thought was on his daughter, but his second was on his looks. Geneva had been in labor for hours, so he wasn't in his best shaped. His brown, now graying hair unraveled and his in his sleeping robe, not the best way to meet his daughter.
"Shes perfect. You look fine darling, you've looked better, but between us I don't think she minds" Queen Geneva said as if reading her husbands thoughts, slightly closing her eyes.
He holds out his hands to hold his heiress. The baby hooks her tiny finger around his thumb and he knows he'll love her for as long as he lives, probably even after.
"If she's anything like her mother she's going to be a handful. Not to mention beautiful and strong. You do need rest my love, as strong as you are" The king moves his hand in a beaconing gesture and a nurse comes in.
"Make sure she's safe, have the guards take her to the nursery and have Grover guard the door" She mumbled the last part, nodding off.
He looks at the nurse standing by the name, her name tag on her uniform, Hilda.
"Take her to the nursery, make sure you go straight there, the guards will escort you." Two guards move when they heard the king's orders.
Hilda carefully carries the baby into the hallway to let the mother rest. She makes her way through the somber halls of the hospital constantly thinking at any moment she will get caught and the whole plan will be over before it even starts.
She hears the King calling for someone name Grover, but as she walks his voice sounds more distant.
"I have to get some items for the child, they're in the utility closet" She says trying to steady her breathing.
The guards look at each other, then at her and both nod in agreement.
She lets out a deep breath she hadn't noticed shes been holding, and continues walking. As she approaches the utility closet , "Where are they?" she thinks.
As she stops and looks around, the guards take notice.
"What are you...
He never gets to finish his sentence, his throat slashed from behind with no warning. The remaining guard goes into fighting mode but too late. A woman with emerald eyes and raven hair graces him with her arm.
His veins start turning black, shock evident in his face. It's like poison, rapidly spreading throughout his body. He collapses and convulses for a few minutes, blood dripping from his eyes and nose, until finally his eyes turn completely black.
Hilda was frozen in place, terrified with no ability to move.
"You've done a great job Hilda. Now give me the child" The mysterious woman with green eyes say.
This wasn't part of the plan, nobody was supposed to get hurt. She didn't sign up for this. She looks down at the baby, she looks innocent and pure, what are they going to do to her?
The woman grown inpatient and goes to grab the baby, but in that moment Hilda decided she couldnt do this.
"Hilda, don't be stupid. The only way to ensure the kingdom's future is for the child to come with me" The woman says.
Hilda's brain shuts down and her instincts kick in. She couldn't leave with the death of an innocent soul. So she did a very unexpected and stupid thing.
She ran.
She's never ran faster in her life, she runs not even looking back, waiting for the woman to strike her while shes fleeing.
But it never comes, she makes her way outside of the hospital and keeps going, the rain pouring down on her and the baby.
She looks back, the hospital far behind her. She sneaks into an alley and finds shelter. Hearing sirens going off in the distance that could only mean they knew what was happening.
What did she do? What is she going to do? She looks into the child's eyes, they were blue and hazel at the same time, beautiful. She didn't asked to be born into this, she didn't even have a name.
