“Ghenesis,” I said, sliding my hand into his. Soon as our skin touched, my whole body lit up like static. I ain’t even gone lie—it felt like little sparks was poppin’ off in my chest.

“Nice to meet you,” he smiled, then licked his lips slow like he knew exactly what he was doing. “I could walk you to class—least I could do after knockin’ you down like that.”

I felt my lips pull into a soft smile before I could stop 'em. Damn... he smell good too.

“Uh… sure,” I said, brushing my hair behind my ear, trying to play it cool.

We started walking down the hall side by side, his vibe chill but confident. I could feel him glancing at me from time to time, and every time he did, my stomach flipped.

Okay... maybe this school ain’t so bad after all.

Me and my boys was chillin’ in the back of the cafeteria, puffin’ out the same broke-ass window this school still ain’t fixed. Ghetto as hell, but it’s whatever. I leaned back, takin’ another pull from the blunt as the smoke danced through the sunlight.

“Got word that 500K wasn’t accounted for,” Nico mumbled, locked in on his phone.

I didn’t even flinch. “Find out who it is and handle it... before I do.”

He gave me that tight nod and kept typing. I could feel my blood simmering low, but it was Anisha that made it boil. She sittin’ over there with her little crew like I ain’t just caught her gettin’ piped out by two dusty niggas with my daughter in the next room surrounded by crack pipes and roaches.
