Ash was not a happy fox at all. It was bad enough that he was short for his age, and that he was made fun of for how he dressed, but things only got worse when his cousin Kristofferson came to live with his family. Kristofferson was everything that Ash wasn't; he was tall, very good looking, athletic, and seemed to have all the girls attention in school. How could things get any worse?

Well, they were about to.

Ash, walking into school that morning trying to look as confident as possible, spotted his love interest, Agnes. He just knew she was the girl for him. He loved the spots on her face; something about them just drove him wild with passion. He desperately wanted the vixen to be his and after procrastinating long enough, he decided now was the time to make his move. Trying to be macho, he confidently strutted over to the vixen, grinning.

"Hey, Agnes," he said smoothly.

Agnes turned around to see the small fox standing by her, his arm against a locker. "Oh, hello Ash."

"So," he said, slicking his head fur back. "You been up to anything lately?"

The vixen shrugged. "Not really. Just school work."

"Well, if you're not busy, how about we go out Friday night?"

Agnes frowned. Ash knew this was not a good sign. "I'm sorry, Ash, but I already asked your cousin Kristofferson out that night."

The small fox felt a dagger being plunged right into his heart when he heard her words. It was bad enough that Kris was better than him at everything, but now, NOW, he had done the unthinkable. He had stolen away Ash's girl. Ash tried to save face, by not appearing to be upset by the vixen's words, but it was all in vain.

"Oh, I see." said Ash, noticeably hurt. "Whatever, have a good time!"

"Ash, I . . ."

Agnes watched as Ash stormed off, not wanting to her anything else she had to say. Huffing and puffing, it was all Ash could do to fight back the tears that were soaking his fur. The young fox walked around angrily, gritting his teeth and catching the attention of many of his classmates. Ash didn't care about that right now, he knew what he had to do. Walking through the halls, he finally spotted his cousin Kris. The taller silver fox had his back turned to Ash, who tapped him on the shoulder. Kris turned around to see the hateful stare of Ash before him.

"What's wrong with you?" asked Kris.

"You're a skunk, that's the problem!" shouted Ash.

Kris watched as several students formed a circle around him and Ash. This could easily turn into a fight, and like most teenagers, everyone was hoping to see a brawl.

"What are you talking about?" said Kris, raising his arms in an attempt to calm Ash down.

"You just had to have Agnes, didn't you?"

Kris took a step back, his arms still raised as though he was trying to surrender. "Ash, this isn't what you think. I . . ."

Ash didn't let him finish. Grabbing hold of Kris's shirt, he shoved his taller cousin back. Almost immeadiately, all the students started chanting "fight, fight, fight", but as quickly as it had started, the fight was over. The principle, a large wildcat intervened.

'Alright, that's enough!" he shouted. Grabbing hold of Ash and Kris, he dragged them to his office. Sitting both of them down in front of his desk, he proceded with a stern lecture.

"Now, you boys both know that fighting is against school rules, right?"

Their heads both lowered, Ash and Kris nodded meakly.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Kris and Ash raised their heads obediently, though neither wanted to make eye contact with their principle.

"Now, what started this?" he asked, arms folded.

Ash, his voice dry, tried to speak. "Um, I was, uh, mad at Kris for going out with Agnes."

The principle narrowed his eyes. "Really? You boys are fighting over a girl?"

Kris spoke up. "I didn't fight, sir."

The principle seemed to ignore his words. "You two shouldn't be fighting, your cousins! Do you think I should call your parents?"

"Please don't." said Ash.

"We promise to behave ourselves, sir," added Kris meekly.

The principal folded his arms, glaring at both of them. "Very well. I'm going to document this little incident, but I won't call your parents."

Kris and Ash both breathed a sigh of relief, but the principal added an addendum.

"However, if either of you two so much as raise your voice in anger at one another, I will be calling your parents and letting them know just what transpired here today! Now, get back to class!"
