I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm going in for my first job interview. This fashion job is my life and dreams. I get to be an intern at Fashwear, my fave shop, plus earn money helping around. And today is my interview.
Deep breath in, deep breath out, in, out. I'll be fine. They know it's my first job interview, so they might be more understanding with me. My careers coach, Amy, told me I would do well, and I just have to trust her. "Next."
I walk in feeling slightly nervous, but mostly calm and slightly confident. There are 2 women in the interview with me. One has red glasses (and I've met her before because she does cashier work), and the other one looks only a few years older than me and looks like a model. They introduce themselves to me. The one with the red glasses is Marjorie, and she does cashier work and shelf stocking, and the one who looks like a model is Stella, and she is the head of the dress department. If I get the job, I'll be mostly working with Stella.
They ask me a few basic questions, like what I want to get out of this job, why I love fashion design and what qualities I can bring to the job.
I tell them how I have been interested in fashion for a long time. I was a crafty kid and loved sewing. When I was looking for a school in year 7, LAGC (Los Angeles Girls' College) stood out to me because they had an excellent fashion display with clothes designed by year 9 and 10 students. That was when I knew fashion was for me. I explain that I want the job to improve my fashion designing skills and to launch my career, and how I can bring a creative mind to this job and be a hard worker.
"Thank you and we'll get back to you shortly!" Stella says. I leave, feeling confident about my interview. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
