What did she mean by that? When she said it, it made me want to know more about her.

(Y/N) finished dinner and called us over. "Dig in you guys!"

"Itadakimasu!"

We took our chopsticks and ate the ramen. The instant it touched my tongue, I could taste the myriad of flavours. The chashu pork mixed with the green onions, bean sprouts, and noodles was just perfect.

"Wow!! (Y/N), this stuff is amazing!! This is on par with Lunch Rush himself!!" Hizashi praised. I nodded in agreement.

"You are a great chef. I would like to taste some more of your cooking." I commented.

"Thank you." She replied.

The three of us chatted while eating the ramen I cooked. We made jokes and laughed, while Shouta just sat there, a grin tugging at his lips.

"Okay guys! I gotta head home early. Gonna wake up early for the show; Shouta, you coming?" Hizashi asked. Shouta shook his head.

"I'll stay for a while longer."

Hizashi waved us goodbye and left. I went into my room and changed into a (f/c) tank top and black sweatpants. I remembered the napkin from the cafe and pulled it from my jean pocket.

I went back to the main area and told Shouta that I was just going to call someone. He nodded and I went to the balcony and closed the screen door behind me, letting cool air flow into the apartment.

I dialled the number from the napkin into my phone and pressed 'call'. First ring, second ring, then someone answered.

"Hello there (Y/N). How are you doing?" A male voice asked. I clenched the napkin in my fist.

"You....what business do you have with me? You can't mess my life up again, Akui. I can ignore you for as long as I live. I've ignored all your calls." I answered. Akui laughed.

"Can you be so sure of that?"

"Yes. And once I find you, I will make sure you never pass the same fate of my best friend to others, you monster."

"No, you can't."

"...what do you mean?"

"I've called you precisely 70 times in the past two years, correct?"

"I don't care to keep track."

"Well, you should've. Because that's the exact number of lives I took."

I froze. 70 people? "You asshole! Why?!!" Anger lingered in my voice, careful and suspicious of what Akui was going to say.

"Every time I decided to call you, I would take a random victim. I would tell them that if you had answered, I would let them return to their families alive. They sat in a chair tied up, crying, hoping you would pick up. For every ring that passed, I would break one of their limbs. And when you denied my call, they would scream with despair. That's when I would--"

"SHUT THE HELL UP YOU BASTARD!!!!"

I slammed my fist on the railing and burned the napkin, leaving nothing but ashes. "How could you!! What.....WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?!!" I yelled. I could feel my legs waver, and I struggled to grip the phone.

I could feel tears slip from my eyes. The lives of people were taken because of me??

"Yes, it's all your fault. You were responsible for their deaths; you are responsible for bringing horror to all their families when they learned what happened to their beloved relative." Akui laughed maniacally. "Oh, listen here! I was afraid that you wouldn't call. I was just about to make the count 71.."

I could hear a small voice in the background. I almost breathed a sigh of relief, when Akui spoke up again.

"Let's do that, shall we?"

My eyes widened, and I heard a scream of agony. "NOOOO! STOP IT!! YOU...!"

The phone call ended.

I couldn't handle it. I dropped to my knees, put my phone in my pocket, and started sobbing uncontrollably. I couldn't believe that that many people died because of me.

"Are you alright?"

I perked up and looked at Shouta. "I don't think you should be concerned about me."

"What do you mean? You started yelling a lot earlier. What happened?"

"It's none of your concern."

"Of course it is!!"

Shouta grabbed my wrists and forced me to look into his eyes. "You're crying!! I know that I sound emotionless sometimes, but I care!!"

"...you were wrong about me."

"What?"

"I'm no hero. That person that I called? He killed 70 people because I never answered his calls, and before hanging up,  he killed one more. All those people relied on me...and I let them die." I explained. I clutched Shouta's shirt and cried into his shoulder. "It's all my fault."

I could feel his hand rub my back, comforting me. He picked me up bridal style and brought me inside. He laid me on the couch and sat beside me.

"(Y/N), look. That wasn't your fault. Those people might've died, but it wasn't you who chose to kill them. That guy's logic is wrong. You value the lives of people dearly, that much I can see. You freed the people in the basement auction. You took a blow for a child when it wasn't supposed to be your problem. If you look at the logic, it was never your fault at all." Shouta said.

Sniffling, I said, "So I see you take after logic more. I guess you're right." Shouta laughed and patted my shoulder. "Hey, Shouta?"

"Hm?"

"You want to stay the night? It's getting late, and I have a spare room." I said. "It only seems....logical."

Shouta chuckled. "...Sure."
