Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Start from the beginning

Just a moment later, the boy on the Monstrous Nightmare and the girls on the Razorwhip and Deadly Nadder flew in and tried to destroy the fort. Knocking over a few Hunters that were firing back their Dragon Root arrows, the Riders made a clear space for themselves to try to demolish the project.

Blasting the marble, Snotlout knew that his attempts were in vain. "It's not working!" He called out to the ladies that travelled with him towards the base. "It's the marble! It must be impervious to dragon fire!" Astrid knew blasting wouldn't help them. "Then we need a different approach!" Heather tried to slice it with the Razorwhip's sharp tail, that too didn't work for them.

"Viggo has created the ultimate dragon-proof fortress!" Snotlout yelled out, fearing they would lose to Viggo this time as they were unable to stop the Hunter tribe with this newly built stronghold.

"We need to tell Hiccup what we found before another convoy arrives." Astrid decided they should take that course of action. Ann just laughed at it. "Aw, can't you handle anything without your sweet, dear Hiccup by your side?" She mocked the blondie. "You better shut your mouth before I..." Astrid started, but was interrupted by Ann. "Before you'd do what? You should know that if you do something to me, Viggo will come to get revenge for that!" Ann warned her.

"Astrid, there is no time to argue with her now. One more shipload and this stronghold will be complete!" She pointed to the remaining hole in the side of the dome. "And no dragon will be able to get in. Or out of it." They already sounded worried and defeated, much to Ann's pleasure.

She watched with joy in her heart to see that their attempts were useless and Viggo had thought this plan through very well. "Try. Try your hardest, but you will never be able to destroy our mighty stronghold. Viggo has thought this through entirely. If you didn't know that by now, then I guess you don't know Viggo at all." She smirked at them.

The Hunters had put up a good fight with the Riders before they left on their dragons. "Okay, hurry. It will not be long before they have warned the other Riders and return! They have followed one of our convoys and must be out to destroy what we are building here. It has to be done before they get back here. Move it!" She dove through the holes again on her dragon and flew over the construction.

A few hours had passed and most, if not all of the holes were closed. "Okay, now prepare the catapults. Archers, stand ready. I feel the Dragon Riders will be here soon." She flew over the construction place again to see that it was almost done.

Some moments later, the silhouettes returned to the sky. The whole Riders gang had collected and were ready to be shot out of the air. Some of the Hunters were ready to fire their arrows again when the big guy on the Gronckle screamed out a battle cry and aimed a huge sledgehammer towards the newly built structure.

Two big Catastrophic Quakens flew in the direction of the stronghold. "What?" Ann was stunned that they managed to have control over the Quaken dragons. She flew to the front of the fort with Luna in an attempt to stop them, but she was blown off her dragon's back by the impact on the ground caused by the Quakens. They would be separated for the rest of this battle.

Ann held on to the marble blocks of the dome as much as she could, while Luna was blown into the trees. Pointing the sledgehammer towards the dome again and again, Fishlegs ordered the Quakens to destroy the dome towards the ground. They rolled and smashed themselves into the building, everything was falling apart. Ann, who was still on top of the construction, fell down with a big smack on a pile of broken marble rocks.

Being disorientated and shocked a bit, it took her too long to get out of there. Another large block was falling exactly into her direction. Heart beating fast, she prepared herself to die at the scene, but the block didn't crush her! Laying in a small gap, the block fell onto the sides and left Ann trapped in between.
