The brittle horseshoe between my fingers weighs as heavy as my heart. A gift of love from a prince with crimson hair who escaped the raging sea on a stallion mightier than Thor's. This is all I have left of a fabled isle which sunk in swallowing tides ~ and I stand at the shore staring out to the horizon to a love and his world that I can no longer reach.
This piece was inspired by a Scottish '50 word' competition I entered, but this one grew too long.
