The Demon King was surrounded in fire. He was in the middle of the capital, and actively destroying everything. Panic was nearly so thick it clogged the air.
The screams filled everyone's ears. A giant beam cuts another fiery gash into the city. Human life as we know it could be removed forever. But, he showed up.
The Mage King, and he was on top of a tower. The Demon King's massive, black, curved horns hung above one of his many faces. He was maybe 500 feet tall, and had 4 arms.
His giant body had multiple faces laced on it. It's skin was black, as if it was absorbing all light. It's eyes were red, as crimson as blood.
It's teeth were jagged, and caked in blood. Its four arms held various staves. The rest of it's body that wasn't covered with a face held many scars.
Chains held it's legs and arms, but the seemed to not hold it back. It's muscles bulged, even though it wasn't flexing. But, one man stood it up.
He wore shanty robes, made from what appeared to be a potato sack. His hair was a silver color. It stuck out of his robe, even though his face didn't.
His Grimoire stuck out and began to turn pages. It stopped on a page, and a bright gash appeared above him.
"Seal this demon away!" He yelled, as the gash revealed a giant blade. It struck through the heart of the Demon King.
Suddenly, he began to bubble up, streching his already scarred skin. This continued until suddenly, he exploded with a blinding light. The skeleton of the monster fell, but the Mage King was found being entirely stone.
While his power was never truly discovered, his Grimoire was. It was a book that possessed a star. Grimoire powers are based on a shape, specifically how many sides the shape has.
Since a star has five, it's considered the greatest. We haven't found a power to match it yet. Every Mage King so far has possessed one of these Grimoires. Or at least I thought so.
The Mage King is always given a special Mana that most others can't channel. For example, one had the ability of time magic. Another, had the ability of creation magic (aka fire swords, lightning bows, creating stuff from an element).
Grimoires are books that contain your spells. They fill themselves out, and generally amplify power. That's why getting a high class one is better than a lower class one.
There is multiple kingdoms, and each one brands the Grimoires differently. For now, I'll refer to us as the Shape Kingdom. This is important, as we currently are the strongest of all the kingdoms.
The Mage King is our label on our magic ruler, but keep in mind that there is 5 kingdoms with a mage like him. Of course, they are always weaker than them.
Mostly, the kingdoms are at peace with each other. Anyways, back to Grimoires. They fill themselves out as you unlock spells.
You can do that by a few methods, but generally training is the best method and is highly consistent. Increasing your Mana, increasing it's regeneration, increasing a spells power and reducing it's cost are a few benefits of practicing a spell repeatedly.
Anyways, enough backstory right? Let's hop into my story.
****
It was a tournament. It was for kids under 15 who wanted a chance for one wish. If you won, you got one wish that could be answered with very few requirements. You couldn't have your Grimoire filled and if you requested for access to more Mana they could only ask.
Obviously, Mana favored some people more than others. Unfortunately, Mana didn't seem to favor me at first. So, I entered the tournament. I was very lucky with my Grimoire, as it appeared at a young age of 10.
