Worst day ever

22 2 1

It was a beautiful morning at 8:00 on the 4th of July. I went to my drawer and grabbed my clothes for the day and went to the bathroom to take a shower. After I was done with my shower and had my clothes on, I got a call from my cousin. "Hello?" I asked. "Hey Marie. Rebel just had a heart attack and died. She was just outside doing her business then we let her in the house. Rebel walked into the living room and all of a sudden she yelped and there she was laying on the ground. I'm so sorry Marie." As soon as he said those words I immediately started shaking uncontrollably. It took every thing I had not to cry on the phone. I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. It was as though time it's self stopped. "Can I talk to your father?" Cousin Kent asked. "Um, yes. Hang on, let me run the phone to him now."

As I was on my way walking  to the living room where my father was I started crying. My mother heard me from in the bathroom, while she was doing her makeup (because I have to walk past it to get to the living room). Once I reached where I needed to go, my father say my crying state that I was in. His face turned to immediate concerned and a look of what happend. I gave him the phone and said barely above a whisper "Its Cousin Kent." When he took the phone from my hand, I walked so fast to my room trying to control my crying self, it felt like I was running. While this was happening mom asked very quickly and panicky "What happend?". I felt bad for ignoring her but I didn't want to cry in front of anyone. Not even my own parents.

Once I was in my room I immediately fell down like I was nothing and started crying. Why? This isn't happening. She has to be alive. She can't be dead. I didn't even get to see her one more time or even say goodbye. It's not real. It's not real. It's not real. I kept repeating "Its not real" over and over again in my head. I never cried so hard nor as much in my life. Next thing I know moms in my room telling me it's okay and embracing me in a tight hug. Almost afraid I too, would disappear forever. "Why? Why is this happening? This can't be real. She has to be alive. She can't be gone. I won't let it." I cried/sobbed out.  Mom started crying hearing me say that and couldn't stand seeing me cry as hard as I did. "Well, honey, dogs don't last forever. I wish they did but God didn't have them live that long. Sometimes when things happed we don't understand why. When my dog, Teddy Bear, died she was 11 years old. Same age as Reb." She said while controlling herself as she was too crying. "I know mama, but it's just not fair. It's just not." I say crying on her shoulder as we are still hugging. "I know baby. I know. But atleast you gave her a new family with little ones to look after. She wanted to be a inside house dog, and you gave her that. She was so happy that she took care of all the kids and gave the family love. Plus you know she got spoiled A LOT. And you grew up too fast on her. Rebel had two families she lived with but 5 families loved her. Thats more families than any dog has ever had that loved them so much." "I know mama. But it still hurts." My heart hurt so much, I thought I was gonna die myself from a heartbreak. I never believed that someone could die of one, but now I finally do and I understand why now. "Your father and I are going to go get her and bring her 'home'. Do you want to come with us to go get her?"mama asked. I thought about it and said "No" being to afraid I would fall apart again when I saw her.

When they came home with her, my thoughts from earlier were right because as soon as I saw her, I broke in tears. "No, no no no. This isn't real." Once I was towards the bed of the truck, she was laying on a carpet, rug type blanket. I instantly started shaking her. "Rebel, Rebel wake up. Please. You have to wake up. Your not aloud to leave. You can't leave me." Dad and mama couldn't stand to see me the way I was. Dad left to go behind the garage my guess crying. Mama stayed by me silently crying her self. I don't know how long I was just standing there, holding her, and crying. Dad came back with the Rebel Flag and a Rebel Flag bandana. First, he put the bandana around her neck and tied it on. Then he laid the Rebel Flag on top of her. Rebel had puppies when she was a year old and we kept one. A male chocolate lab named General. Poor General didn't understand what was goin on. So with all the strength I had left in my body, I pick him up to show him his mama past away. As soon as he saw his mama he instantly went limp. He wasn't his happy go lucky self after he saw her. I felt bad, but I had to show him otherwise he would keep looking for her.

Once I put him down he started to wag his tail and go back to his normal happy go lucky self. I couldn't help but smile at him. I knew he was trying to lighten up the mood and it helped. Even though it didn't last long. Dad said he has to drive the truck to the backyard to bury her. I hopped into the bed of the truck holding Rebel trying as hard as I could not to cry again. Good thing I brought the tissue  box with me.

This story is real. Otherwise known as A True Story. Once I finish this story, I will reveal who the real person is and show you the picture of the girl with her dog. Everything is real/accurate except for the other people's name(s). The dogs name really is Rebel and she really did have puppies when she was a year old. And the owners really did keep one of her pups and name him General. I will also show you a picture of him. And yes, I have Marie Alexander's permission to right this story. Thank you for reading this. I will have the next chapter uploaded either to today or tomorrow. Thank you again.
