She is short, but oh, so sweet~
Six hours into a new case and Connor found himself in desperate need of a break. While his body held a rigid resilience to long work hours, the emotions which came along with his deviancy did not exclude boredom and frustration. Pushing away from his desk, the android detective made his way to the break room for some much needed rest. He leaned against the nearby counter, letting his eyes drift shut peacefully and enjoying the quiet. While the adjustment to his newly discovered feelings often proved itself tedious, he was grateful for the opportunity to feel things like calm, happiness, and in this instance, relief. One hand drifted lazily to the pocket of his jacket and pulled out his lucky coin, which he swiftly began to mess around with subconsciously. His mind started to sink into what he recently learned were called daydreams as he thought about Sumo and what dogs did when their owners were gone. He wondered if animals had routines like androids, or simply wandered around mindlessly until their humans came back. For a moment he considered whether or not animals could daydream as well. The thought intrigued him. Just as his hands had settled into a routine, a rough smack sent the piece of metal flying out of his hands and rolling to the floor with a small clink. Shocked, Connor opened his eyes to see Gavin Reed, his least favorite person, standing before him with a triumphant smirk.
"Taking a break, you fuckin' toaster?" he asked obnoxiously, spite seething in his voice. "I didn't know plastic could get tired. We're paying you mechanical bastards now, and you're wasting time pissing off in our break rooms?"
The detective poked a rough finger into Connor's chest, and he grimaced a bit at the unwelcome sensation.
"Why don't you get me a coffee while you're in here, dipshit?"
The android opened his mouth to protest, but some leftover restraint in his artificial mind prevented him from speaking. Doing what he was told felt more familiar, and therefore safe. Because of this, he found himself submissively pouring a cup of the hot liquid for Reed before quietly returning to his desk. His LED flashed red as he immediately regretted not saying anything. Hank noticed this and lifted his eyes from the adjacent desk to look at his friend.
"Something wrong Connor?"
"No... well... I suppose, yes. I've been working here officially for several months, and Gavin still treats me like I'm a machine. I feel like I deserve more respect than that."
"Then show him you're not a pushover. Tell him to suck your dick! You're just as much of a human as that stupid prick, and he needs to get that through his thick fucking skull already." Hank leaned back in his seat, taking a large swig of what was most likely spiked coffee.
Connor's light spun a bright yellow in a long pause of consideration. Then he nodded.
"You're right, lieute--... Hank. I need to stand up for myself. I'm a person, too."
The android stood up abruptly and strided over to where Gavin was seated. The stubbly detective glared up at him with narrowed eyes.
"The fuck do you want?"
"Detective Reed..." Connor paused briefly, straightening up his shoulders to make himself look taller. The man before him simply grew frustrated, brushing him off with a cold wave.
"You just gonna stand there and stare at me with your stupid glass eyes or what? I've got shit to do. Go lick some blood or something, asshole."
Connor's light glowed a steady, solid red as he drew in a heavy breath, posture unwavering as his voice came out with a powerful sense of anger.
"SUCK MY DICK, GAVIN!"
Reed spat his morning drink everywhere, and from the other side of the room, Hank laughed so hard that he almost flipped his chair. Connor, however, was feeling liberated, though the full implications of his own words were lost to him until Fowler called him into the office for a nice, long discussion about human slang.
