Back in 1502 in the New Orleans state, a family just got packed up to move to an area known as Addis. A quite little community on the South Side has a house for sale. No one has lived in the house in 30 years. The house has a small little windmill.
Two weeks have passed since the Bless Family moved in. Harley Bless is a thirteen year old son of the family. Brother Harley walks outside to get a pale of water from the old well that sits on a low hill. U can see the windmill from his bedroom window. He reaches down to pull the pulley up and almost slides in getting it. He adjusts himself back to brace his waist on the dirty rocks as he pours the bucket of water into a glass milk bottle. As he walks back into the screen porch the sky above him turns grey.
His Mother is in the kitchen putting her red apron on. He tells his mother the sky is turning grey as if it is going to rain. Sister Paisley Bless says the weather isn't suppose to be rainy. She says it is going to be sunny all week long. Father Joey is puzzled at the darkness of the skies as they become gloomy. He says alright everyone let's go outside to see this absurd change of the New Orleans sky.
Storm Clouds gather in their blue eyes as they watch it roll in. Nothing happens as they stand out on the screened porch. They watch their neighbors puzzled as well. They look terrified as if something is going to happen. For some reason the sky rolls passed the community on to the Bless House's Windmill. Birds gather around the broken turbines to lay. As the thunder starts to rumble through the yard there is no wind to be whistled.
Brother Harley is unpacking his books onto his shelf above his wooden desk. He pulls out a book called The Three Trees. As he flips through the pages he looks out the window and sees the Clouds get darker around the windmill once more. He runs to the kitchen door and his eyes get big. The windmill his spinning without any energy or wind. He brings his Father to the window to look again. It doesn't seem to be as it seemed when he was the only one looking.
Sister is in her bedroom writing in her favorite blue journal her brother got her for her 6th birthday. She writes down her plans for the school year. Her window seemed to start fogging up and vibrating. She slowly starts getting up as something writes on her window (Brother Desk). He has already settled into bed. She creeps into his room and over to his desk. There is a little piece of red paper hanging out of a small glass outlet under his desk. She reaches down to pull it out. As she unfolds the red crippled up paper it says " Go To The Little Door On The Windmill For Next Clue".
