Chapter 1 ~ Barcelona

As Daniel Ricciardo's New PA for Renault F1 you knew this was going to be exciting. This was your dream job. Daniel had wanted everything to be a fresh start for his time at Renault which of course is why I'm here.

Daniel and myself have met a couple of times before we were due to arrive in Barcelona for pre winter testing. He is a great guy and let's face it very good to look at. But I have to keep them thoughts out of my head as I've got to remain professional at all times.

I arrived in Barcelona a day before testing was due to start as I wanted to do some sight seeing before I had to work. I checked into the hotel near the track, got my room key and found my room as I was trying to unlock the door I heard a family Aussie voice, "Hey Y/N". I turned round to see Daniel stood behind me "hey Dan, how you doing?" I asked. "Yeah really good thanks you?" "I'm good would be even better if I could open this bloody door" I replied still struggling with my key card. " Here let me" he said taking the key out of my hand and opening the door "Aw thanks, my hero" I said acting like a damsel in distress "My pleasure princess" he said bowing. I giggled loving the time I spent with him already. He grabbed my bags and helped carry them into the room. He must of noticed the awe in my face when he turned and said "lovely view isn't it?" "It really is" I remarked making my way to the window. "So how come your here a day early?" I asked him. "I just wanted to take some time to relax before the hard work starts and also try and meet as many team members before tomorrow and you?" "I've never been to Barcelona before wanted to try and see some sights" I replied. " I could show you some of the local sites this afternoon if you fancy it?" I fancy you I thought in my head!!! "Well yeah that would be great if you have time?" "Of course, us newbies have to stick together" he said making me giggle again. He called us newbies as we are the only 2 new people in the team and I've got to admit it was great to have him start at the same time as me.
"Ok I'll pick you up after lunch about 2?"
"That's perfect thanks newbie" I smiled and it was his turn to laugh. He walked towards the door and before he opened it he turned and winked. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach doing back flips. This is going to be hard to keep professional around him, I mean look at him.

I'd unpacked my cases and ordered some room service for lunch when I noticed it was 13:55. Dan will be here soon, so I quickly made my way into the bathroom to freshen up, quickly applied some make up and changed. I was just putting my trainers back on when I heard a knock at the door. "Hey newbie" I said seeing Dan stood there wrapped up like we were at the North Pole. "Are we going to Lapland or something?" I asked. " Might as well be Y/N, it's freezing out there" I forget he's from Australia so not used to European winter. "Where's you hat and scarf?" He asked like a concerned parent. "Dan, it's really not that cold. It's warmer here than it's is back home in England." "Wow you English are hardcore, I'll give you that" he said shivering. I did grab my coat in case it rained and we made our way out of the hotel and onto the streets of Barcelona.

It was a beautiful city lots of history. After an hour of what I'm sure was Dan making up some facts we found a coffee bar. "Do you wanna grab a coffee and warm up?" I asked him.  His eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas Day. "That would be great I can't feel my toes anymore Emma" he sounded like a kid as well.

We made our way over into the coffee bar and I ordered my latte and he said he would have the same. He watched as I put some sweetener in mine. I looked at him and asked if he wanted some "Nah, I'm sweet enough" he laughed. "Bet you say that to all the girls?" Why did I say that what a dummy I thought. I was hoping he didn't hear me but he did and replied. "I've got better pick up lines than that!" He said it as a statement. "Oh yeah like hi I'm Dan and I'm a wuss when it's cold" he looked shocked and hurt at the same time. I just giggled and walked to a free table I had found. We talked about what he was expecting with Renault this year and how I was looking forward to travelling the world and seeing new places. "When we get to Australia I'll have to take you on a tour of my home town." "That would be amazing" I gushed "Bet we'll be busy though with a lot of media commitments" I know when it's a drivers home Grand Prix they have a lot more interviews to do. " We'll make time, as my PA you can schedule some touring time with your fav Aussie" he smiled that oh so delicious smile at me. "Omg is Chris Hemsworth going to be there?" I mocked him " ok your second favourite Aussie?" He sounded as if he was genuinely upset maybe I'd gone too far so admitted I was joking. The rest of the day went well we managed to get lost twice, but eventually managed to find our way back to the hotel. Once we were up on our floor I turned to Dan to thank him for today. "Anytime newbie" and he hugged me. Daniel freaking Ricciardo hugged me I actually thought I was about to faint. He smelt so good even with all his layers of clothes on I could smell his aftershave. "I've got a really good feeling about this year, I think it's gonna be the best one yet" again he winked at me I didn't know what this meant did he do this to everyone? "We'll you've got me to bug you all year so of course it's gonna be great" I smiled at him hoping that didn't sound too cringey. He just winked again and we walked into our separate rooms. I've got to get these feelings and thoughts out of my head I kept saying to myself but it was easier said than done. I kept thinking back to the wink maybe it was a sign he liked me too, I was hoping that was the case but reality hit and I knew it wouldn't be the case, he could have anyone he wanted, why would he chose me.....

Dans POV
I took all my layers off finally glad to be in a warm room. I really enjoyed myself today. Y/N is a great girl, she's on my wave length, we had a great time together she makes me laugh so much and god she is pretty. We had exchanged numbers when we had met previously, I thought about texting her. Damn Daniel you've only just left her. I can't think these thoughts, she's not interested in me that way, the way she was talking about her love for this new job she would never do anything to jeopardise it, so I have to remain professional. But she was right having her by my side for the whole year was going to make it the best year yet.
