This evening's sunset was just like any other , but something felt different like a huge wave of change was coming. I hoped that my gut feeling was wrong. So I went to bed that night pleading that i was. The next morning I woke up as heard the birds chirping as I always do. I got ready just like any other day. washed my face in the stream and made myself breakfast afterward. Then I went down to the small village at the bottom of the hill. As I made my way down there I said hello to the children playing in the fields scaring away the birds. As soon as I reached the village one by one they all greeted me. I cannot say that everyone here liked me , but they all knew who I was. The day was sunny and warm and as I greeted my friends at the village I felt an ominous stare from far away. I turned to see who it was but it disappeared. I thought maybe I'm just imagining things. So I continued playing and spending the day with my friends. By the time we knew it the sun was making its way down behind the hills. Everyone knew the day was over but that there would always be tomorrow to play again.
Or at least that's we all thought. . . . .
That evening I made myself dinner watching the beautiful sun setting like a candle slowly loosing its flame. As the night settled in I decided to look up at the stars through my window in my small house. That night I saw the stars start to fall one by one. I thought it was amazing , but what I didn't know is that after that night everything would change. As the stars fell I decided to ask for many things. Not objects like how most do. I decided to ask to stay like this for a very long time. I Also asked for adventure, new friends, and most importantly love. I never really considered them wishes , But I did yearn for them to happen. Maybe not all of them but at least one of them. Now that I think about it maybe I didn't have to ask for them. Maybe it was because I asked that my life went down the drain like some bad Kool-aid.
If you have not noticed yet. Yes I live in the same generation that you are all reading of now. I was not born in this same generation though. my story begins When I Made those requests many many many years ago Before anyone knew That humans would some day be able to fly all over the world or even knew that they had so much potential to grow. That night I fell asleep watching the stars waiting for tomorrow to come in my dreams so I could play with my friends again. unfortunately that day never came.
I woke up just like I did every other day. I washed my face in the river by my house and ate breakfast. Weirdly enough no birds were chirping today. I didn't think anything of it until I started my walk down the hill to the village. The kids that play in the fields were all there but they were torn apart and scattered all over the fields in a huge bloody mess while the crows picked at their severed body parts. As soon as I saw this I ran to make sure my friends were all alright. All i can say is that i never found them. . . Or at least not all of them. The whole village was not just killed but some were eaten, others were burned ,and the rest were just torn apart and disfigured like it was all a game. At that moment all I could think of was maybe i was just having a bad dream so i decided that even if it were all just a dream that all the dead deserve respect. So I buried them all and made graves for all of them. At the end of the day I washed all the blood and dirt off of me at the river and decided to go straight to sleep. The next morning I woke up thinking I finally woke up from my nightmare.
Sad to say it was not a dream . . . As soon as I walked outside I could see all the graves I dug for all my friends and all the villagers. No one else was alive but me. As I slowly went through all of the graves and made my way to the empty village I felt someone staring at me with an immense intensity. I could feel a stare like that a mile away. I decided to ignore it and kept walking towards the village. As soon as I reached the village I heard Strange men asking where all the bodies were. I decided to hide behind a small shack inside a wooden barrel. The men knew that Someone else must still be alive that cleaned up their mess. Then they suddenly left, but soon returned with an army of ill mannered and vicious men. By that time i made it back to my small house with one window facing the sunset. Surprisingly enough that sunset was one that i never saw.
