As I lay in the bed listening to them yell, I try to hide the pain and noise under the sheets, squeezing the pillows against my ears, fearing the words they say getting louder and louder. Knowing they're not going to stop. Kellie, my little sister, only eleven years old. She quietly enters the room, tip toeing trying her best to not make a squeak in the dark wooden floors, shaking in fear thinking they'll hear her. She reaches for my duvet with her cold pale hands. She slowly pulls it down as my head is still under the pillows. She lifts up the pillow to see the mascara flowing down my face as tears fill up my pillow like a pond. She reaches over and taps me on the back, her soft cold fingers touching me, sending shivers down my spine. I looked up at her as she noticed the mascara under my eyes. Her face, she was petrified. I grabbed her gently pulling her swiftly towards me, holding her as tight as I could. "Everything's going to be fine, okay? Go asleep and it will all be over." I whispered softly in her ear, trying to hold back the tears, trying to be brave for her. We heard a loud smack and jumped in fear. We both pulled down the duvet popping our small tired heads above the covers hoping something bad didn't happen.
~Earlier that day~
As I slowly woke up I already started to slip away sinking back into my bed hoping the day will already end, knowing that once I get up I know I have to face everyone and lie to everyone, yes I'm fine, I'm okay.. no I'm not, really I'm dying inside. As I lift the heavy duvet I slowly pop each leg out the side and pop on my slippers. As soon as I sat up I felt the cold breeze rub against my legs getting goosebumps everywhere. I stretched my arms out as far as I could yawning, I then reached across and grabbed my robe. I rapped the robe around me and reached for my phone. It wasn't there... I started to panic. I jumped up off the bed and threw the duvet across the room *thump* I looked up as my face began to shrink. I didn't want to believe that was my phone. If i broke it my Father would kill me!
I slowly walk over as my eyes refused to open *thud* OW! that was my toe... of course i had to bang it off my bed ughhhh. Eventually I made it over to the blanket and I lifted it up as my phone rolls out of the duvet. I reached over to pick it up and Squinted my eyes in fear. My hands were shaking. I turned it over and it was ruined. It was so cracked it looked like someone viciously hit it with a hammer.
I heard a knock at my door. I jump and quickly hid the phone under the pillow, Just as I put it down the door opened. "Hello?" I said curiously. "Don't worry its just me.." Kellie quietly said poking her head in through the door. "Oh, hey. You kinda scared me. Is everything okay?" I said walking over and slowly opened the door. "Yes everything's fine sis. Mother is waiting for you downstairs, hurry up and get ready you're leaving for school in 20 minutes!" Kellie yelled while going to the bathroom to brush her teeth. "oh okay! Tell mom I'll be down in 5." I yelled back.
I opened my wardrobe scanning my clothes knowing that I badly need to go shopping because everything here it looks like I bought off a man at the side of the road but you know we all have that outfit that looks like a homeless persons clothes, there the most comfortable ones. I grabbed the best, dearest and coolest looking outfit I could find. I threw it on and went to go brush my teeth.I got ready in under ten minutes just needing to make my bed. As I walked to my bed I forgot about my phone. I grabbed the duvet off the ground and gently placed it on the bed. When I went to fix the pillows I touched my phone. I grabbed it from beneath the pillow and turned it on. The bright screen blinding me as if I was a vampire to sunlight. I got a text..
"Mel! I'm leaving in 2. I'll be in there car when you're ready!" Mam yelled up the stairs as I finished making my bed and put my phone in my pocket. I quikly ran down the stairs and went into the kitchen. The house was empty. I went over to the kitchen table and grabbed a slice of toast. I dragged my bag off the table and walked over to the door. I reached to the door knob and turned it.. until I felt a hand on my shoulder. With no hesitation I turned around and saw him. I saw him standing there and just looking at me. Without flinching he kissed me. He pulled away and said "good morning sunshine." I looked at him and smiled. "What are you doing here?" I chuckled as I pushed his shoulder away biting my lip. " I wanted to surprise you. Your mother let me in. What's better than surprising my girlfriend on her first day back to school." He came closer grabbing my waist looking me straight in the eye. "You're too kind Theo." I quietly said while he was brushing my hair behind my ear. He put his hand on my cheek and and lent in towards my lips. I reached in for a kiss and he swerved over to my cheek. " It's always good to tease you." He laughed and gave me a hug. I gave him a fierce look and crossed my arms huffing. "I'm joking baby. Maybe" He winked cheekily at me and opened the door.
I walked out with him behind me as my mother was vigurously honking the horn. I opened the door and hopped in the car. I looked in the mirror and my cheeks were rosey red.
I looked down at my fingers while Theo was holding my hand. As my mother drove on I got another text.. It was the same person as last time.
